What’s the best drug they gave you without knocking you out? I had Valium the other day and Jesus it felt like all the pressures of the world disappeared and my mind was loosey goosey. I can understand why these drugs are controlled, Jesus I miss it.

You should try fentanyl.

Are you “alert” during morphine?

After a broken leg, fentanyl on the ambulance ride.

Like a warm electric blanket washed over you from head to toe and all pain went away. This was refreshing as I had spent about 5 hours laying on the ground after the motorcycle crash with a clean through tib-fib break.

When I had acl surgery they gave me some form called tramadol. I was aching post surgery and couldn’t sleep because my leg kept shaking in pain. One dose of that and leg was all calm.

Not #1 since it also put me to sleep

Dilaudid

I suffer from kidney stones and over the years have wound up in the ER 3 times due to them. Usually morphine takes care of the pain but the last time they hit me with morphine and it did very little since the pain was so bad.

Next shot about 1/2 hour later was Dilaudid and that did the trick for a few hours. I wound up having to have that bad boy removed surgically the next morning. And that's another story for another time.

Now, for surgeries when they put me under, it happens fast. I've had 9 surgeries over the years and when placed in the OR and they get ready to start, they put that little mask over my mouth and nose and say "Breath in slowly" and that is about all I remember until in the recovery room.

It's like someone hit a switch and I'm out like you'd turn off a lamp.

I had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy and the propofol just knocks you out. I felt like I teleported an hour.

I had a professor describe benzodiazepines (Valium, Xanax, klonopin, Ativan, versed, etc) as “the best drug for anxiety. You don’t care about a thing in the world until it’s time to take another benzo. And that’s the problem with them.”

I used to think people who take these harder drugs were weak mentally but my goodness they sure do make you feel good.

Still weak mentally but probably a lot more happier

They gave me Oxycodone after a hernia surgery. It really helped with my pain and attitude. I only took it for two days because I wanted to drive. After that it was just rotating ibuprofen and Tylenol for a few more days.

Had a double inguinal hernia surgery. They gave me demerol for the post surgery pain. I liked it.....a lot, that's why I had my wife flush the pills after day 4

The same stuff Michael Jackson OD’d on.

Lovely shite. Arm got cold and I went night night. I actually don’t like morphine though. It made me feel panicky and then tired over and and over

Whatever killed MJ. I got a hit of that before my knee surgery. It was wonderful.
