Restructuring Carr's contract.....

I’m not sure if this is right, but I was listening to some of the Saints talking heads on the radio yesterday while driving around. According to these guys on WWL radio, the Saints are looking at restructuring Carr's contract this year. According to them, he is going to be a $51 million salary cap hit this year if they do that.
However, here’s the kicker. If they restructure his contract this year, his dead money contract hit next year will be $69 million. as I recall, if they don’t restructure his dead money hit will only be $25 million next year. Therefore, we wouldn’t be able to get rid of him next year if Loomis restructures.
If Loomis is f*cking stupid enough to even allow the possibility that this f*cking clown Carr to be a $69 million hit on next year salary cap, he has got to f*cking go. It’s long past time that somebody in this organization, just admit that Carr's signing was a complete f*cking catastrophe and take the hit now so that we can start the rebuilding process. Otherwise, we’re going to be in salary cap f*cking hell for eternity.

Which is why he'll get an extension, not just a restructure

That’s the problem. The face painters can’t admit this. They will defend Mickey to the grave. Carr will get an extension

Yup, and watch that cap room in 27 all the face painters have been jerking off to go poof.

Yes, we are basically stuck with him for 25 & 26 if we do another restructure

The reality is, you don't have to restructure this entire contract either (borrowing from future years).
Whatever cap space you can always just carry over into 2026 at least

If you have a brain try to use it occasionally with an attempt of opinion. Plagiarize Chat GPT if you don’t know where to start.
All you know is calling names to anyone critical of a poorly run team. Sounds like a dumbfrick to me, sorry about your sub 100 IQ.

So Quinn Ewers played with a torn oblique, but OUR sissy boy sat out multiple games

If you restructure him this year he can be a post June 1 cut next year to spread that cap hit into ‘27. I was onboard with cutting ties with him this year, but then that likely means restructuring a lot of old guys like Cam and Demario. So it’s a pick your poison kind of deal.

Let's say you have a base salary of 32mil.
You can restructure all 30 (leaving 2mil base) and convert it to a signing bonus to spread it out over potentially 5 years. Effectively hitting 6mil a yr instead of 30mil at once.
You however don't have to restructure all 30.
Also whatever cap space you do have this year, you can roll it over in future years as well. Some teams carried over 10mil+ last year into this year for example.

yes we can over restructure several contracts and still choose to carry over unused space into next year but it gives us flexibility.

Right.
But, as it relates to the Carr situation, how does this apply? I was trying to undersand what you are suggesting could happen.
We are trying to find 47M and also need to sign our rookie class. If we decided to keep Carr and restructure, we are going to need all of that 30. And, given that we are 47M over right now, we aren't going to have much cap space remaining by the end of the offseason.

Loomis is not stupid no matter how much it feels good saying it.
He has a different plan for his FO. Stay employed.
This plan would not work with all owners.

Bottom Line…..
How many more years are we stuck with Carr if they extend/ restructure him for the 2025 Season ?
Thru 2026 ?
Thru 2027 ?
Thru 2028 ?

They can move on from him at any point now. We’ll eat some dead money, but we’ll have the cap space going forward to do that.
