Single cloud above the site. Glowing on the horizon and lighting up the cloud. No news from here nor local news.

If it's towards HWY 3115/HWY 30 from where you're at, it's probably the flare at Nova (was Williams). If they go full flare, that bitch and be seen from the moon.

Yep, most likely their ground flare. For some reason these are considered better for community relations but they just end up looking like the start of the apocalypse.

I read that and my mind was immediately day drunk at Jazz Fest on a brilliantly sunny weekday afternoon in the late 90s.

I used to work there. When the ground flare was being commissioned, birds would fly too close to it and ignite and fly away as a burning ball of fire.

When it is foggy, the regular flaring looks apocalyptic.

Can't deny that. It was a great place when Williams owned it. Canadians turned it into a farm club for other plants

Is that the same Williams facility that had a few fatalities because they didn’t follow simple rules

The same one. Williams was a great company and cared about employees. The incident you are speaking of was a little more complex than that. The Williams brass was in Tulsa and really didn't know the day to day operations of the plant in Geismar. That incident was one day in my life I would like to forget.
