Good Areas, Bad areas. Maps are very helpful. No surrounding areas (Sulphur, etc.). Looking for info about Lake Charles or at least on the very outskirts.

It's not recognizable from 25 years ago. It was a nice place to grow up and have a good job pre 1982.

Simple folks living simple lives for the most part.

Ghetto trash like everywhere else in LA.

Trailer parks within city limits and in middle of the city.

No cajun food. Its food scene is unimpressive.

Bunch of tryhards live in Greywood.

People obsess about kids sports. Your High school is like a personality type.

I would only consider going to visit the casinos, or if you are getting a promotion as a plant baw.

Too close to the coast during hurricanes. I’m not familiar with the area, but I would try to live on the north side of town if possible.

Lake Charles Tallest Office Tower on the Lakefront was imploded ; and likely to be replaced with a Dollar General.

I am not from there but have visited several times over the past 2 years. Some nice areas and have eaten at a few very good restaurants.

Southwest of 210 are da nicer neighborhoods (Greyood, Country Club, Nelson Rd, Holly Hill, Lake Street) besides around da Bekery (bakery) and Shell Beach Drive. Downtown is nice to visit if there’s an event or Sunday walk. The city parks are actually nice. There’s a lot of projects underway such as a bridge connecting north Nelson road to the Bekery area, as well as a boardwalk/wharf area that will include Crying Eagle Brewery and children’s museum on the water south of 10 bridge. All in all, lots of potential for a city. However, hurricane Laura/Delta absolutely destroyed the city and will takes years to get back to where it was pre-COVID/hurricane. I heard at once this place was one of the fastest growing economies in the US. Not sure if that’s true, but I wouldn’t doubt it given the LNG/plant projects. If you’re a single guy or no ties to city, there’s better places. But if you have to move here, there are worse places.

High Speed Chicken feed.

Most unlucky city in the country, yet has good governance.

LC has had Willie Mount, Randy Roach, and Nic Hunter as mayor.

All competent, no scandals, and not batshit crazy.

No other City in Louisiana has better track record of elected mayors than LC
