Having quite a bit of pain in my left elbow. I’m a right handed golfer. Extremely tender to the touch. Played yesterday and the first few swings didn’t feel so great but didn’t notice any pain at all after the first hole. Very sore this morning.

Anybody ever deal with this? How’d you handle it? What worked/didn’t work? I’ve got some tournaments coming up that I’m not backing out of, so looking for the best way to handle the issue while still being able to play in the tournaments. Definitely not going to hit the range or play very much before tournament time.

I’ve had the same, but idk about tender to the touch. I guess it could just be very inflamed.

I used Aleve (Anti-inflammatory), KT tape, elbow sleeve, & most importantly - Theraband flex bar

I think it's tennis elbow is pain in the outside golfer elbow is pain on the inside. I had it when I got back into it serious last year. KT tape and just took a break for a couple weeks. Eased back into it. Mine didn't hurt enough to quit playing but was very annoying and achey. Also one of those massage guns helped.

There are YouTube videos that explain how to use it based on where it hurts. It really does work.

Dry needling helps tremendously. I was ready to have surgery a couple years ago and an OT recommended this. Took a couple treatments from local pt but he got it back to normal. I’m back dealing with it again because I let it go to long but about 90% better after a couple treatments again.

I've read the responses and for me, none of these responses worked. Theraband.....nope. Ice/ibuprofen....nope. Dry needling.....nope.

I even tried physical therapy for about 4 weeks (which included the dry needling) and nothing worked. The only thing that worked (for me) was a PRP injection. It took about 4-5 weeks to actually kick in, but I do not have any pain anymore. It just went away. I'm about 9 months into it and still cannot tell that I was dealing with any pain. I unfortunately had both tennis elbow and golfers elbow at the same time.

Good luck to you, it's frustrating.

I’ve had tendinitis in my elbow several times and I always go the cortisone shot route. Pain is gone in a couple of days to a week.

I’ve tried all of the bands, sleeves, pain meds, etc and they’ve never worked so I just cut to the chase to what I know will work.

I dealt with this.. the biggest improvement for me was switching my grips. I switched to Jumbo Max in my size and it changed everything. I was gripping too tightly with standard grips which caused all my fore arm muscles to stay flexed instead of relaxed, this put more strain on the connective tissue. Especially with ground impact.. Fat shots felt like my arm was about to be ripped off.

I used to go this route as well, but the cortisone is not a long term solution. Over time it will cause more and more damage with each shot. If you continue to get it, find a doctor that will do PRP.

Glucosamine with MSM. Years ago I struggled with chronic pain in my elbow. Happened to mention it to my dentist, and recommended I try those supplements. I took them for a week or two and the pain disappeared. May not work for everyone -- but not an expensive attempt if you want to give it a try. Good luck to you - that kind of pain sucks for sure.

All good recs above.

I had tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) of right elbow for 2 years. Couldn’t shake hands or even write with a pen. Tried therapy, steroid injection, fresh frozen plasma, rest, ice, etc. Ended up having surgery after 2 years.

Then got it with Left elbow (from playing guitar, of all things). My tennis pro friend recommended the Fiix Elbow device. It worked. I’ve had other friends use it, with good results. You can look it up. Costs $400, but worth trying before surgery.
