re: Weekly Group Golf Games
Posted by Cypriedog on 8/14/25 at 9:05 am to generalgator87
Have organized a weekly game for 10+ years and have found biggest considerations in what you set up are
1) Range of capabilities of the group.
If groups handicaps are in a somewhat tight range, and generally play from the same tees, then you have a lot of options to set up fair group game. Stableford, ABCD Teams, 2 man scrambles, skins, birdies, etc all work well.
If the group has a wide range of handicaps and play from different tees, it’s a bit more of a challenge to have a group game where an individual or a team doesn’t feel disadvantaged by the way the game is set up.
2) Ease of game management.
Team games are more difficult to set up. If someone has to drop out at the last minute it can be a nightmare to adjust and keep teams balanced. And managing personalities can sometimes limit team possibilities……again making it difficult to keep teams balanced.
Individual play games give much more flexibility in putting groups together, adjusting for player changes, allowing for guest play, etc
Our group has a wide range of handicaps and plays from 4 different sets of tees. After trying a number of different options over the years we landed on a target score group game. Each player contributes a $5 buy in and has a target score based on their handicap from the tees they play that day……ie if your handicap is 10 from the blue tees your target is 82 (par +10) for the game that day.
Players are awarded 1 point for each stroke they beat their target by and everyone who beats their target shares in the pool money……with the pool money being prorated by number of points earned. If only one player makes points, he gets the entire pool. If one player makes 2 points and another makes 1 it’s split 2/3 and 1/3.
To keep it fair, we play it down when conditions permit, no gimmes, and count all your strokes til you hole out. Everyone’s handicap is managed in GHIN.
Each group also plays whatever other games they might want inside their foursome. My group usually plays birdies and runs a rabbit.
Whatever you do has + and -………you’ll figure it out and have fun. Good luck!

Could try running on an external gas tank.
If runs like you’d expect you have a fuel delivery issue. If runs the same as is now likely still have a motor issue.

Don’t remember many spiders in Peach Lake……but a lot good memories hammering the woodies back in there!
Thecoz is on point.
Obamacare (healthcare.gov) will pay for some of you and your wife's plans. How much they'll pay depends on your income.
If you can cover your living expenses from non taxable sources, ie savings account or joint investment account withdrawals......... and manage your taxable income (withdrawals from pensions, IRAs, dividend income, etc) to the medicaid threshold.....around $25,000 or so, then Obamacare will pay the majority of your premium.
If you can manage your reportable income to this $25,000 level I'd expect can get a BCBS silver plan that includes drugs for probably $200 -300/month out of pocket covering both of you.
Otherwise, the $24,000 per year others have suggested is pretty accurate based on my experience.
The key is being able to manage your taxable income each year.
On last comment....the $25,000 income level with keep you off Medicaid and give you the maximum premium help from Obamacare. If your income is higher, Obamacare will still provide help, but your premiums will be higher.

Could be as simple as providing the sellers registration documents along with the bill of sale.
I’d pass on any boat that hadn’t been previously registered. Results in another level of hassle to make it legal for you and your son.

You’ll need DMV to clarify legal age requirements….believe it’s 18, but think you both can be listed on the LA title…..then you can transfer to him when he turns 18.
Pretty sure Mississippi doesn’t require titles for boat trailers, so guessing a bill of sale with the right info will be critical to register in LA. Same with the boat and motor. Out of state just increases the hassle factor so need to make sure you understand what LA needs to title and register from out of state. Sorry not much help there

Correction………DMV website!!!
I’ve always created my own bill of sale but either party can. If the seller has one that has all the needed info use his…if not yours is ready to go.
I’m assuming you’re in Louisiana so suggest using the Bill of Sale templates at the Louisiana DNV website (Sale of Moveable) and at Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries website (Sale of Boat/Motor). Using these makes sure you capture all the info they require for the transfer of titles and registration. It’s a real pain to go back to the seller and start over again if something required is missing……..ask me how I know that!

I’ve always done 2 bills of sale……one for the boat and motor and one for the trailer. Notarize both bills of sale and the title for the trailer when you meet to do the exchange. Coordinate with a notary to be present.

Fenix HM 65R headlamp
On high beam setting bright enough to run the duck boat in the woods.
Dial it down or use floodlight mode for anything else. Top notch light.

Couple things you might try if haven’t already
Hook up a water hose to the flush port and give it a good flush. Water should come out pee hole good and strong
Take the water intake screens off the lower unit and give a good cleaning. Sometimes crap gets clogged just behind them.
