How many baws going down? It’s quietly becoming a big deal. The wife and I may head down mid week once the weather clears up. Safe, family oriented, and a blast.

I prefer their Victorian Christmas, "Dickens on the Strand"

Galveston actually has a legit Mardi Gras. Love the downtown history and architecture. I feel much safer there than NOLA

I got married in the Strand, so I'm biased but it's a great place for Mardis Gras. And this part is nice.

i know Galveston is a punchline but I really enjoyed a long weekend there last year with the wife. Great food, historic buildings, and we did an awesome ghost walking tour with drinks.
Beach aint that great but its a cool city

It's solid for kids. Pet parade used to be alot of fun, but kids are teens now so it's been a while. The strand music is usually not great, but the vibe is good and definitely more geared towards family. You will see minimal titties. Maybe none.
HUGE negative - unless they have changed in the past 5 years, it's only beer and wine based drinks sold to walk around with.

Just don’t
No matter what they say…..or how much money they put down there
It will never be anything good

My sister in law got bit by a shark down there last summer. She’s okay. It’s was pretty funny in retrospect.

Anything "family oriented" changes rapidly

you realize galveston was founded by a frenchman and started celebrating Mardi Gras from its very beginning in 1867, right? Galveston has a a cool mix of Texas/Nola culture.

bro, how dumb are you?
Benardo was the viceroy of new spain. a very famous man in his own right (hero of the American Revolution). he never stepped foot on the island.
The city of Galveston was founded by Michel B Menard.
next you are going to tell me that lafayette was founded by the Marquis de Lafayette
??????

It's solid for kids.
