Thought this might help some of our left-leaning folks understand why our bloated federal government needs a major overhauls. I’ll start.
I have a business that ships products all over the USA and Canada. I almost exclusively ship through private carriers but I have a customer in BFE Alaska who requires me to ship UNited States postal service. Why? Because their service is about 1/3 the cost of private and gets there faster. So the USPS basically offers a rate that is not competitive in the free market, and more than likely they are losing money on every shipment. So basically the taxpayers are paying for this for-profit company to have lower expenditures than they should. It’s literally a gold mining company taking money from each of us every time they ship stuff to their facility.

Ya, so you see, private companies are in the business of profiting off of their service and so their prices reflect that. Government agencies aren't.
Hope this helps.

Giving illegals free healthcare, free spending visa cards for 1500. free food, free education, housing supplements.
While I get taxed to death and have to pay out the nose for health care.
Should I go on.

I absolutely agree on not giving illegals free healthcare, but to be clear, you pay more in healthcare because of insurance companies constantly trying to increase their profits.

Everything mailed from China gets that same UN postal rate diacount you are talking about. We finance ali baba and temu. It is cheaper for them to mail stuff to the US than it would be to ship the same item within the US.

Us embassy in Papua New Guinea. Staff stay in the most expensive housing in the entire country. The embassy itself is built on the most expensive property in the country. The UsA has very little influence there. We should influence and support Australia in their role to combat china bs having our influence. I imagine that’s the case in many countries we operate.

True.
But obamacare capped their profits to a % of their expenditures. The only way to increase profit is to increase expenditures (raise cost of Healthcare services)
So government caused the majority of healthcare cost invreases.

Government agencies aren't.
They should be like a business as much as possible, especially when they charge for their services like the USPS... Taxpayers should not be subsidizing package delivery...

Ah. “Cost plus”
A tried and true way to drive efficiency.

Ok, the put a profit margin cap. Maybe the issue is companies shouldn't be so greedy profiting from your health.
"A tried and true way to drive efficiency."
Well the old methods companies used to drive efficiency in costs was to put liftime limits and deny pre-existing conditions, so I think the cost plus is the lesser of two evils for the patient.

IRS itself. Budget is in the billions, more than 90k employees.
If we simplified the tax code, most of what the IRS does would be completely unnecessary.
In the 90s, the government put out a request for quote to create a free e-filing service for citizens. Intuit responded and said they would provide their services for free to W-2 employees and manage themselves at no cost. Ever since, Intuit and other services have lobbied the government to keep the tax code complicated enough to warrant their services.
The problem comes from the incentives in our current government. Agencies do not have any incentive to save the taxpayers money. First, they operate on a use-it-or-lose-it budget. They all make sure to spend as much of their budget as possible. Secondly, the budget benefits by the size, power, reach, and employment of the agency. What this incentivizes is agencies that endlessly grow and gobble up tax revenue.

Not a government thing, but a good example.
My electric and gas company wants people to conserve energy.
So... they send out a bill, say on the 15th of the month... States usage and payment due.
About a week later they send out ANOTHER mailer, showing you how your usage compares to other similar households in the neighborhood. Literally DOUBLED their effort, paperwork, postage to guilt ME into using less watts and therms based on what 'the Joneses' are using.
How ridiculous is that? Why not mail it together? Why double waste, postage and time to lecture their customers? I pay my bill, who CARES how much I use compared to my neighbor?

The LARGE gov agency I work for replaces ALL office chairs every four or five years, regardless if they are functional.

Giving my social security money away to low life lazy muther frickers with pretend disabilities. And not investing my money so that I can live comfortably when I am an old dried up fart.
Paying a-hole buddies of theirs to do endless studies on every single project.
Blocking progress on infrastructure in the name of horse shite environmental issues.
Perfect example is the I-49 project through Lafayette. Going on 35 years and no progress has been made. Study after study to determine if the environment will be fricked up by placing a road way in the exact location of an existing roadway.
