Can someone buy this property and all of Tigerland and raze it.
It's all prime land that could be redeveloped to make it safer and nicer for the college aged crowd

I was just about to post this. What is the world coming to when El Cid isn't safe!

quote:

BATON ROUGE - One person was taken to the hospital in stable condition after a shooting on Burbank Drive.

The shooting happened at 4040 Burbank Drive, which Google Maps shows is the address of Elcid Apartments, around 1 a.m. Friday morning. Officials said one person was injured and taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Hate to see it at one of the best residential establishments in the area.

I feel bad because I’ve recommended it to others for years.

Where in Baton Rouge is "safe" at 1AM that isn't behind a gate? Even before Tigerland took a dive, people were still getting run over, getting glassed once the bars closed, etc.

Ran into some hometown guys in BR one night at a house party.

Ended up going to firestone.

I woke up at El Cid with a hippie chick with hairy armpits on the other couch. Don't remember anything.

College was wild!

ETA: This was around 2003

How many prospective LSU students see El Cid and decide to apply elsewhere?

My intel advises me that this is actually why Bryce Underwood flipped to Michigan.

Honest question, and not to derail a thread, but I went to lsu btw 03-08.
Lived at:
Highland plantation
Tiger plaza
Garden District
Down Burbank towards gardere in small neighborhood

Spent days/summers/weeks at Brightside and Burbank commons playing volleyball and being reckless.

They were all affordable and relatively safe.
I wouldn’t want my college kid (my son is five, but as an example) living in any of those places, with slight exception to the garden district.

As it stands now, I do not want my kid going to lsu. Something has got to be done, with all the money pouring into lsu, about the surrounding area south of campus/tigerland.
