I just don’t get it.
Is this a version of the enemy of my enemy is my friend?
All these people are bad in 1 way or another. Ukraine has its issues, but Russia is led by the worst man on the planet.

Obama is in charge of Russia?
Well that explains the Russian invasion.

Russia is more traditional than Western Europe and the United States. It's also generally very homogenous.

Why exactly are some Conservatives Pro-Russia?
In very simplified form, many entire-rational "conservatives" have decided that fiscal restraint is more important to them than are our international obligations to our European allies.
And then there are those who have convinced themselves that the Russians are the saviors of White, Western culture.

I agree op, it boggles the mind why these so-called conservatives love Putin so much

Giving away all our tax dollars to Europe and Ukraine and accusing anyone who disagrees as being a Russian. And you frickers wonder why you lost the election. Zero self awareness

Because Putin claims to embrace their domestic cultural issues.

1) By "some" do you mean "Daniel Martindale"?
2) Nothing in that article even suggests Daniel is a "conservative"? Sounds like he ex-patted in 2005.
Are you being dishonest or are you dumb?

Free rides over, and I'm just super bummed that the countries refusing to spend on defense will have to pony up for once.

I don't think I've ever heard Russia described this way, considering so much of it is various forms of ethnic Asians or Turks.

Russians

We aren’t. This entire “good versus evil” foreign policy is what caused the weakening of the United States. The Trump policy is a modern twist on real politik. Trump sees the world as it is and is trying to negotiate a peace within the current reality. Ukraine cannot push the Russians out militarily and Russia cannot break out of the current stalemate. It makes sense for both sides to accept a peace where the current borders exist so that this costly war can be concluded and the United States can devote its full efforts toward containing China around the globe.

Forget Russia. China is your enemy.

I am a self proclaimed Conservative/Moderate.
It's not that I'm pro Russia, it's just that I'm anti Ukraine. Ukraine is historically one of the most corrupt countries in the world, and to anyone with half a brain, it's apparent that our corrupt politicians have formed inroads into there through energy companies, family members, foreign aid, etc.
On it's face, I really just like Putin better than Zelenszky. Something about Vlod is sleazy AF. It's all just a money laundering scheme to him and the US politicians involved.
And people like me don't blame the Dems. We blame the ESTABLISHMENT. This is a problem on both sides of the aisle.
I'm about sick of us being involved in any capacity.

Idiotic.
Ukraine's #1 issue is that it plays no role in our national security. The you get to them having actual Nazis. That's another issue.
We have people in our govt that are worse than Putin and there are millions of people on the planet right now that could make a very compelling case that Netanyahu is far worse than Putin.
Russia is the largest nuclear power on the planet.
Russia has influence in North Korea. Extraordinary influence. If we untangle the mess in North Korea, we could unwind all of the pressures compelling us to have troops in Korea and Japan, allowing us to deploy a huge percentage of those forces.
Russia is one of a very few nations looking to preserve national sovereignty and reject globalism, which happens to be a pretty deal in the US right now.
Russia has more natural resources than any other nation on the planet.
It is strategically important to have peace with Russia and seek to bring them closer to us and away from China.
Ukraine has nothing that is relevant to our national security interests. It is only valuable to warmongering jackasses.

Russia:
Majority Christian Nation
Socially conservative / traditional values
Shared western culture / heritage
Hegemonic power that goes back centuries
We have more in common with them than differences
They are our eastern brothers
Let them run shite in eastern , central
Europe , Central Asia and be a foil
To China while we run Europe , Western Hemisphere and Africa

Russia is an enemy more than China, but at least we have benefits to a relationship with China.
Russia offers nothing for the US, especially at the expense of alienating some of our closest allies and larges trading partners.
