That dude did some great stuff at Southern. I always pulled for the Jags when they weren’t playing LSU. I remember he had some health issues late in his coaching tenure.

I went to a Tulane @ Southern game 5 years ago and he was giving a hand helping out in the concession stand.

He was in good spirits talking and joking with everyone.

Love that guy. Seems like he was in the news with various honors this past year or so.

Yeah didn't he win like over 900 games? Did great things for Southern and had them in the tournament fairly regularly.

I've got a cool story bro about him.
Years ago Southern was playing Southeastern in Hammond. This is back when there was just a small partition separating the field from the fans.

Anyway, I was standing next to the visitors dugout, which still has the restrooms attached, and Roger came out of the restroom and stood next to me, outside of the field of play, just shooting the bull until the top half of their inning was over. Was probably about 4-5 minutes.

Then he just hopped the fence and went back inside his dugout. We had never met before or since but he was perfectly fine just chatting while the game was happening. Great guy.

The above story is pretty much classic Cador.

I used to see him hanging out at the old Churchills cigar bar regularly when I was in college. Super nice guy. Bought me a couple drinks back in the day. Can’t say enough nice things about the guy.

(Forgive the length- Emphasis needed)I had the privilege of playing for the legendary “Big C”, Coach Roger Cador during the early years of the Southern University baseball dynasty—a program he not only revived but elevated to new heights. I was the starting second baseman on the historic 1987 team that defeated #1-ranked Cal State Fullerton in the NCAA Regional Tournament—a feat even more remarkable considering that, at the time, only 48 teams were invited to compete.

Yet, despite this achievement, history seems to be forgetting—or perhaps even erasing—the fact that Southern University remains the only HBCU to have accomplished this. Coach Cador’s impact extended far beyond the field. He remains deeply involved in both, the community and Southern University, and to this day, he continues to coach and inspire through his YouTube channel. His legacy lives on, not just in the records, but in the countless lives he has touched. #BPhi #The87Squad

Always loved his spots with Jimmy Ott. Loved how he would say "Well you know,..Jemmy, that's the funny thing about baseball,..."

He always had great stories and insight into moments of the game and history of the game.

People I know who have met him say he relates to everyone, no matter age, race, gender. He could be talking balls and strikes with some dude and then stop to make sure he said hello to a kid waiting to say hi to him, or maybe just needed something.

Coach Cador spent countless hours of his own time making sure his players graduated or gave the classroom their best effort. From New Rhodes Louisiana a Southern U graduate played triple A ball in the Braves organization a total gentleman.

He called it a “milk-crate program” because when he took over you could fit all the equipment the baseball program had in a milk-crate and still have room.

He did so much with so little.

As a kid I loved watching his coaches show/segment on wbrz. I could listen to him read a the phone book, he’s such a good storyteller.

When they finally went to a regional outside Baton Rouge I think I remember them getting a win. I looked it up. Says they only went to the tourney in 2019 and 2021. I know that’s not right

I got to play for him for one year. Incredibly gifted conversationalist. I’d go to his office between classes just have a place to hang and he would just talk about anything so naturally. One of my all time favorite people and a brilliant baseball mind.

One of the nicest dudes you’ll ever meet…but overall health, not great within the last year.
