Local Tennessee blogger mentions Brian Callahan's desire to have a veteran QB in his first year and was Carr's QB coach in 2018.

I would take a 6th just to get out of that contract.

If you can trade him, IMO, you have to. Regardless of what Moore does or plans to do with him this year, he is not the future of that position.

What does the Titans salary cap situation look like?

Carr is due to make $51 million this season.

Fourth highest number in the league.

I'd imagine in a realistic trade, we would have to help them with the ridiculous contract. but would still be a net positive for us.

according to OTC they have $44M in cap space though

My understanding is that any team taking him on would owe him his $30 mil base salary and his 10 mil roster bonus. We would have $40 million in dead money due to his prorated signing bonus.

Carr would probably want to be released like he was from the Raiders.

I don't know if I could see him just being like. Yeah, I'm cool with being traded

He was highly sensitive about his exit with the Raiders but then again that was the only team he had ever played for.

Carr is a 34 year old QB. He wants as much guaranteed money and long term stability as he can. He is owed 40 million this season in base / guaranteed salary, and 50 million next year. I think he is smart enough to know he won't be seeing that kind of money again, so the smart thing for him to do is continue to restructure with us or whoever he gets traded to.

He’s going to want to choose where he wants to go and how much he gets paid.

Trading him is not going to happen. It’s why he put in a no trade clause.

I’m pretty sure he has a no trade clause, so he has some control over where he might be traded to.

I don’t know if I’d want to go to Tennessee if I’m Carr. I’d probably demand a trade to the Jets, 49ers, Vikings, Rams or Browns. Maybe the Giants. I’d want a team with some talent.

It’s the familiarity with the head coach that’s the draw.

Such a weird statement to read. It’s true, just weird

What do you mean “get out of the contract”.

If you can get any cap relief from trading him at all, you do it.

If he refuses a trade, tell him he is the 3rd string QB and we are counting on you to mentor the other two.

Yea but 3/4 of the team you play are in states where hat have no state income tax. Thats 10 games a year with no state income tax. So at 34 you save roughly 2.5 million in state income taxes.

Give me Nashville over these options.
Dudes about to retire. He wants to keep as much of his money as he can.

I don’t really think he cares. The guy isn’t a great player or an overly successful NFL qb, and he has made more money than his family will ever be able to spend. I think it’s human nature to coast a bit at that point. If he’s going to get paid 40M to not get the shite beat out of him I’m sure he’d take it.

I honestly think you’d be surprised at how many QBs would sign up for 40 m a year to chill with a clip board.
