The outfield battle

After opening weekend the idea that the outfield will be the most competitive position group battle lived up to the expectations.
Granted we have a lot of time prior to SEC action, who would have assumed the newcomers would be the most secure at this point in time.
Out of the big 6, Frey seems to be the first one out here leaving an interesting battle between Curiel, Stanfield, Brown, Larson, and Pearson. As it stands, it seems as if this battle is even tighter between Brown, Larson, and Pearson for the last OF and DH spot. Who will be the odd man out? Or do you anticipate a season long rotation? Too soon to lock in Curiel and Stanfield? Too early to quit on Frey?
Either way, much like pitching, what a great spot to be in.

IMO Stanfield and Curiel locked in. Last spot should be between Brown and Lawson with Pearson and the other odd man out getting a strong look at DH. Also, you always one injury or major slump away.

It’s pronounced “Fry,” but it’s spelled Frey.

I edited the post only because it’s baseball.

Pearson should be your first off the bench in a pinch hit situation depending on matchup. He has the lowest ceiling out of all of them but he is dependable in clutch situations. Just not sure he would produce enough day in and day out to take time from one of the younger guys.

Curiel
Stanfid
Brown
The 4th guy DHs. Larson is the best player but he’s dead set on playing Pearson. And Frey will get ABs because he is the lone RH on the bench with experience

This is the correct answer.

Larson is the best hitter and Brown is the best all around player. However. Jay trust Pearson especially when the game is on the line so I think all will play a lot

Frey is my sleeper. I've been waiting for him to breakout. He has all the potential and looks like a big league right fielder. Speed, frame, and a great arm. Good problem to have in the outfield.

Sure wish Frey would’ve developed as a catcher…..

I could see Curiel winning center if Stanfield doesn’t hit. I think Pearson ends up being odd man out.

I think all of them rotate all year. Pearson will never be permanently benched. Same with larson and brown. Frey will get ABs bc he is RH.
I also dont think its impossible that either curiel or stanfield struggle hitting in a few weeks, leaving way for one more guy to jump in

All will play and rotate- regional super regional and World Series the coach will settle on the lineup he needs to win.

Great problem to have. I’d imagine they all play a bunch until the lineup hopefully settles in early April

Pearson has proved himself so many times. His experience and clutchness is nice to have.

He's proved himself to be a .255 hitter. Pretty consistent 3 year run.
I am thankful for the big home runs late in 2023, but this outfield talent is so deep I don't think we should settle.

All LH hitters. Frey might get a lot of opportunities due to that.

He batted .235 in SEC play last year. And his "clutchness" is vastly over-repeated here.

Pretty much my thoughts after week 1.

Curiel, Stanfield, Larson
DH Pearson.
Brown can work in when anywhere in the outfield depending on who’s struggling
