14 to 16 team playoff is coming

Within the SEC and Big Ten, momentum is building to further expand the playoff to 14 or 16 teams, assign multiple automatic qualifiers per league — as many as four each for themselves — and finalize a scheduling arrangement together that may fetch millions in additional revenue from TV partners, sources told Yahoo Sports.
The playoff format change would clear the way for SEC administrators to, finally, make the long-discussed move to play nine regular-season conference games and would trigger, perhaps, all four power leagues to overhaul their conference championship weekend.

Meh. It is already ruined. Might as well ruin it more.

They should go back to having a 12 week playoff where a loss basically eliminated you, and one or two fan bases bitched endlessly about being robbed at the end.
It was a better system. Truly.

Just do 68 like basketball and be done with it. It's already ruined

Can we just go straight to 64 or whatever the number is for the ncaa tournament. Not really interested in the buildup

8 teams was the most they should’ve expanded too if they wanted expansion
But money says no

Three loss Bama, OSU, and UGA duking it out every year will be amazing.

100%. 8 would be great.
And if they’re going to expand, just go to 16. I think the byes are dumb. Don’t have balanced scheduling, so not a fan of the “eye test” deciding who gets byes.

Wow, the SEC needs more guaranteed spots to increase their level of competition to playing full house schedules like the other power league does instead of scheduling FCS schools in November.
Maybe ESPN can just weigh in with more propaganda to help them avoid this atrocity.

Should be a guaranteed minimum of 6 SEC schools
Otherwise the SEC schools should exit from the NCAA and have their own championship tournament
I guarantee you they would crush the rest of the NCAA in ratings

I remember the counting down to the season each year with excitement. But it’s hard to get up for this watered down product.

Nope, 6 if the perfect number. The 1 and 2 seed get byes. 3 plays 6 and 4 plays 5. Lowest seed winner from those games plays the 1 seed the next week then of course those winners play for the Title.

Regular season games won't be worth the injury risk

If it is all SEC teams, Georgia and Tennessee won’t get humiliated by 7 and 8 seeds by combined scores of 65-27 while never being in the games.
