I don't wish anyone to lose their job, but this crying by government workers about getting let go is falling on deaf ears.

I worked in the Oil & Gas industry for 25 years. Over all the ups and downs in the industry, I was laid off 2 times. Life is hard. Get over it and find another job.

O&G for 17 years now. Laid off once. Barely made the cut a second time when oil went negative a few years back.

Not laid off, but forced out of 2 jobs would be pretty much the same.

Made my life a living hell until I left with weekly threats of termination. Both times were due to office politics, with one time because I was falsely accused of being a racist.

Best things that ever happened to me, to be honest.

I've been laid off five times.

They've been for different reasons.

It's the nature of the business.

It sucks.
But I enjoy my job/function and you just keep interviewing. COVID killed our company in 2020 and we could not survive. Other times had to do with branding issues and us being laid off 24 hours afterward. Doesn't matter how good or bad you are. Was laid off while being ranked in last 50% and also while being #2 overall. The entire company or salesforce is gone. There is nothing to come back to.

Some layoffs are better. I got nine months severance with one company while only two weeks with another.

Also been fired from first job ever because I sucked at it. That was the toughest one, but I learned the most from it.

Never laid off.
But, it's a part of life.
They chose to collect government check.
Government is broke.

I've been fired once in my life. It sucks, but Chuck Schumer didn't cry any tears for me, nor should he.

I got laid off in 16 because of Obama's economy. Damn near lost everything before I found a job.

These gov people keep leaving out a very important part they seem to always forget to mention when they are crying

They get full salary until September 2025

That’s the most generous layoff in the history of layoffs

Ended up with a better job. Worked out well

These government workers are gonna need a lot of copium. They've been at recess all these years when most private sector workers have been in class

Been fired Twice

once, I was fired the day I got back from our Honeymoon..

I held an executive position...Probably was in over my head with no support.

The Culture there was a bad fit for me

Looking back it was a blessing but it sucked at the time...

2010. Had only been there 1.5 years but was in tax so they needed me badly. Negotiated a 6 month severance to stay til the end. Was awesome.

Edit: was a merger so we knew we would be laid off eventually. Stayed on during the transition part.

Laid off once due to business being slow, got a better job out of it

Ended up going back to that same employer when they offered me a new position a year later when business picked back up

Edit: no severance or anything when I got laid off, if I was getting the offer these people where I would use it as an opportunity to develop skills needed if I didn’t have any readily marketable. It’s a pretty damn sweet package they are being offered that doesn’t happen normally

Once I left the Air Force, I was laid off a few times. I just join another team within the company.
