Any of you who aren’t hockey fans should really turn this on. The talent on ice is insane . Dropping the gloves 3 times in the first 9 seconds is bringing me back to the 90s NHL. The intensity is off the charts.

being from the deep south, I have only seen2-3 hockey games and the fights are all fake, designed to perk up interest in a very boring spectator sport

Can someone explain to me why there are fights in hockey? It's not because one player said something about another player's mama. It seems to be a strategy intrinsic to the game.
