If we plan to keep Murray & Herb at the G spots and don’t get #1

Would it be wiser to try to find a trade for a starting center with the draft pick if it’s not #1 or 2 which I assume will be Flagg 1st and Harper or Bailey 2nd and 3rd? I will be honest and say I don’t watch much college basketball so is there a center worthy of a top 5 pick? I know it’s easier said than done to get a trade done but our pitiful rebounding has shown how badly we need another big man while Missi grows into a solid player. I’d think a pick in the top 5-6 in the draft could be a good cornerstone for a trade though.

No. That would be the absolute worst scenario.

I guess it would depend on what the return would be. Flagg and the 2 kids from Rutgers seem to be the cream of the crop I just wonder how far down that next tier is because our luck instead of getting 1 or 2 we will get 6 or 7.

We should take BPA and not think about positions. At this point, we are looking at a rebuild of the roster and should turn over over 50%. It's hard to say who's going to be left after the dust settles. Murray is basically out for next year. So we'll need another guard or two for sure.

I'd actually like to see Jones bulk up a bit more and play more of the 3/4, along with Murphy..

I can’t think of anyone in the league that would be available for trade that we could trade for with that pick.

Jarrett Allen would be the closest, but he’s not worth that much, Cleveland would have to send us something back but they don’t have anything left.

The only trade I could possibly see would be if we land at 2 and Utah lands at 3 or 4 they maybe willing to send us Kessler to move up to ensure they get their guy.

No telling what Murray will be like once he returns and, on top of that, he is clearly out for a long time due to the type of injury involved.

Getting someone capable of acting as a point isn’t a bad thing because we need someone short term and potentially move him long term if he gets supplanted.

3-4 plus Kessler plus other picks may be workable depending on who we see and the level of drop off in player tiers.

I’d do that deal all day if it meant swapping picks for Kessler and still having a top 5-6 selection. Seems like a quick way to kickstart a rebuild but we will have to hit on the draft pick this year. If we have another Hayes or Kira type draft this franchise is screwed.

This franchise seems to be screwed anyway. Not sure if it is bad scouting / drafting, bad injury management, or just horrible karma.

We need a complete house cleaning of the front office and coaching staff as well as the training staff.

It would come down to how much Ainge loves Bailey or Harper and how much he wants to ensure he gets him, along with how much we love one of those guys in the 3-5 range between Harper/Bailey, Edgecombe or Jakucionis.

1. When a team is this bad, you don't draft for positional need, you take the best player available.

2. There is no center going in the top 4 in this draft.

Well, injuries have been horrendous, but we can’t put it all on our trainers
or medical staff. Sometimes it’s
just a run of shitty luck.
