Per ESPN

Makes me picture Joe saying this to the rest of the NFL.

With what they pay him, they pray he is willing to alter it further.

Football will come and go. He needs to make sure he is financially secure FIRST. Has to Get Him before worrying about winning.

every year he plays he is making set for life money.

he can take a “set for life” money reduction and still be set for life.

Altering the deal probably means restructuring and converting salary to signing bonus. The saints loved doing that and pushing the big cap hit down the road.

Altering the deal just means he gets more money or the same money already owed to him sooner. Those player structures are pretty win win for the player outside of giving up the chance for hitting FA down the line in most cases

Bengals are trying to make cap room to pay Chase, which is why Burrow is willing to work with them.

Yeah but he’s not taking less money in that scenario, he’s converting future dollars into a signing bonus, which pays him out immediately and allows them to spread the money across the remainder of the deal which is how the cap space is created

if he wants to win he needs to change it. Depends what is more important to him, winning or money.

So instead of $200 million, he will make $150 million. I'm sure he will figure out how to make such a small amount of money last his lifetime.

I think anyone who has folllowed Joe at all know the answer to this question.

He takes the unspoken part of Saban’s “do your job and the scoreboard will take care of itself” to the logical conclusion many don’t. When the scoreboard takes care of itself so does the bank account.

But all he is talking about doing is restructuring. He isn't going back and taking less money.

And they already have the money to do the chase deal.
No way they can afford Higgins.

They will need to draft a replacement.

It isn't as simple as this, but if it were, winning would ensure he makes more money longer.

Loser QBs, no matter how good, make less if their team sucks

WHAT A DUMB TAKE.???

If he is not financially secure with what he already has, he is an idiot... and I don't think he is.

At this point it is just a number in the bank, and does not alter his day to day life.
