Has anyone been to Scotland around May? Trying get a final check list of what to pack. Any recommendations? Thanks

Weather is all over the place. Dress for temps between 30-70, pouring rain, light rain and sunshine. Scotland is phenomenal, enjoy your trip.

If you drink more, it will make it easier to understand Glaswegians. Works for a lot of Irish too.
Pay attention to footwear, too. Water resistant, avoid slick leather bottoms if you’re going for work.
And bring some hot sauce.

Yes. It was still pretty cold.
Bring layers with a shell rain-type jacket. I recommend a knit hat and gloves too. There were sunny, cold, windy days and cold, dreary rainy days. I think it got to the low 50s F on the warmest day.
My daughter was living there at the time and commented on the constant winds. She did not make it past late June and moved home.

Gotcha, we’re doing like a 7 day small business tour and was trying to avoid over packing

I went in mid-May 2023. We had 5 fantastic weather days and 1 true Scottish day of wind and rain off the sea.
Went for golf and loved it. Would absolutely go back golf or not.
I'd suggest going to St. Andrews just to go. There is an awesome place in town open only Th/Fri/Sat I believe called The Steak Barn at Balgove. It's a must eat.

I was in Inverness, Scotland, the first week of June 2022 and it got down to around 33-34 degrees one night.

Wear your bulkiest sweater/sweatshirt on the plane ride and wear/bring only one pair of water resistant/proof boots (with good soles), unless you are golfing.
I wore my Blundstones on both of my trips to Scotland (Nov. and May). Perfect for the weather.

Just check weather channel 10 day forcast before you pack. I hit mid may in edinburgh just lucky I guess. No rain and light jacket weather.

Ah is the food bland
I was there last year first week of June. Had some of the best mussels I've ever had over there. I expected everything to be bland and gross. But was pleasantly surprised to find great food in several locations. Fish and chips are a must.
As for what to pack, ALWAYS carry a rain jacket. Even if there's no chance of rain. It'll be sunny and 75 then a giant cloud will pop up and it'll rain for 30 min and that rain is COLD. Then it'll be gone. Dress in layers and don't pack many (if any) short sleeve shirts. Thin long sleeves, maybe a warmer pullover, and a good jacket to keep you dry and keep the wind off you.

Pack like you’re going to the PNW in early fall.

I usually pack a Gore-tex-type jacket because it's waterproof, easy to pack and you can layer thin to thick sweaters, sweatshirts underneath. I liked Edinburgh as a city. Also, look right first when crossing the street.

Stick to the cask ales, carry a rain jacket at all times and you’re 99% there. Smartwool socks so if your feet get wet they won’t get cold.
Pack as though you’ll be on a fall hike for a week. Otherwise no need to overthink it, we went in May and it was relatively mild and you get sunlight late into the evening.
The food is great, plenty of fresh seafood and typical savory pub fare.
