They tested this in the preseason live and also used it throughout the regular season to make sure it worked. They couldn't use the data in games this year, but it was always coming in 2025

No doubt the Chiefs will be the benefit of this new rule to win the SB next year

Why’d they decide to not use in 2024 again?

The NFL will “not utilize its electronic system to measure first downs” during the 2024 regular season, according to a source cited by Mark Maske of the WASHINGTON POST. The league continued to test the system during the just-completed preseason and had “left open the possibility of using it during this regular season.” A source said that the system instead will “go into regular season use in 2025 at the earliest.”

NFL knew it was a first down just like they knew the interception pulled away by KC was an incompletion.

To pretend that they have discovered a solution is dishonest. Anything they add will only further help them fix games.

Or put another way, the NFL is once again changing the rules after Buffalo fails to win the game on the field of play.

I still find it funny that people think the NFL fixes games.

If tennis can have the technology they have no reason nfl can’t get something similar

While I agree with this the nature of a football spot is far more complex than an electronic line calling system in tennis. The tennis lines are static whereas the line to gain changes constantly in football and the system only has to determine where the ball is when it hits the surface but a football system has to determine the spot from the turf up to maybe 8-9 feet off the ground. I am not saying it can't be done but it is the reason that implementation wasn't immediate. The system will have bugs and issues and likely a lot more of them than ELC did in tennis.
