To weigh in on this debate, Stacker compiled a list of the 100 best rock albums using data as of May 9, 2024, from Best Ever Albums, which ranks albums according to their appearance and performance on over 40,000 editorial and data-based charts like Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and Billboard.

I’ve seen worse lists, but this one leans too heavily on the indie side of things, imo. We will all have our disagreements on order, inclusions, and exclusions. After looking over the list, completely leaving out Lynyrd Skynyrd seems odd.

Don’t click if you don’t want to do a lot of swiping left.

I like just about all that, but its an odd list. Like somebody left out 100 albums at the college radio station back in the day.

My two favorite albums are on there although a little low.

I like the list. Of course I don’t agree with Ok Computer. It’s good but not #1. No way!

I was pleasantly surprised with every swipe.

I’ve always found them to be great prompts for discussion when it comes to music.

I want straight to the top 10, to find out that Radiohead albums owned 3 places in the top 10, while Led Zeppelin had zero. G..T..F...O.

This is silly. As one of many examples Mellon Collie on the list but not Gish? Dumb.

3 Beatles in the Top 10, so somewhat defensible.

Radiohead at #1 = no words ever printed by them to be taken seriously ever again.
