I was in college up in Arkansas and my Dad called me and said "this guy named Chris Jackson scored 48 in a loss to LA Tech. You need to check him out!" LSU had only played a couple of games before then and no one really knew who Chris Jackson was. That weekend I was with some frat buddies and we tuned in to the LSU game in Gainesville. I was really hyping Jackson up and hoping he delivered. He dropped 53 in a 111-101 win over the Gators. Good times. I sure do miss the days when LSU basketball was relevant.

Dale Brown had 5 parade AA on the 1990 team and couldn’t get to the sweet 16.

Most amazing basketball player I've ever seen. And he played for LSU.

Also one of the nicest always with a smile on his face person I’ve ever met.

I knew, my dad took me his 1st game, he definitely knew and it was why we went. Wasn't a crazy 1st game but man that season was wild. We definitely saw some ballers come through during that time, but yeah no big time results still stings

don't get me started on that. HITF did we lose to GT in the NCAA tourney and choke away a 16 point lead when we had shaq, stanley roberts and chris jackson?? WTF?

The 1990 LSU-UNLV game was the best BB game I’ve ever seen in person. CJ scored 26 in the second half. That’s UNLV team was loaded. Mo Williamson and Randy Devall balled out as well.

I was 15-16 at the time and I spent countless hours in the backyard trying the dribble between the legs into jumper from top of the key.
I didn't quite master it
Still have the autograph when our high school played in the top 28 in PMAC. Super nice guy with bunch of high school kids around wanting an autograph.

Jackson was occasionally prone to bad shot selection (I know, some think any shot he took had a good chance) or turnovers, but he had the quickest release I ever saw. One thing he did I thought was impossible: he went up for a jumper and the shot was blocked - not into the seats but just dislodged from his hands and still within reach - and he caught the ball and shot it a second time before coming down to the floor. Nothing but net. Couldn't believe my eyes.

lol
This is the kind of stuff that is funny when people try and shame that team and Brown. It wasn't like LSU lost to some bums in Ga Tech, that had a couple of decent players themselves in Dennis Scott, Kenny Anderson, and Brian Oliver.

agreed. He was unbelievable. His knock was that he didn't play much defense and wasn't particularly physical.

I remember sitting at the very top of the pmac against Tennessee and he dropped 50.
Also saw him court side against Ole Miss late that year amazing! I was 10 at the time and I went home and practice the between the legs pull up top of key three in you face. He was something!

I was at LSU 88-92. I was lucky enough to watch all of CJ’s games from the 4th row. He was the most amazing college basketball player ever. The Loyola Marymount game was the most intense and stressful game I’ve ever watched.

First of all, I loved Chris, but Pistol was better.
We lost that Ga Tech game BECAUSE we got the 16 pt lead. We acted like Showtime. We gambled on D and got in foul trouble. Then didn’t defend the 3 and Dennis Scott got really hot. Chris fouled out. Shaq and Stanley each had 4 fouls (may have been 5 when they experimented on 6 foul rule). I remember thinking we got timid to not foul out.
If I wanted to blame Coach Brown it would be for not settling us down after we took the lead. He was enjoying it too much. We looked invincible. He finally got his 7’, and doubled it. Best team on paper I’ve seen. But, Shaq was just getting started and Stanley was just getting in shape from a year off. Chris was trying to adjust to not being a one man gang.
That game and the 2011 rematch with Bama were two of my worst NOT GOOD TIMES.
I could be wrong, but I think that Ga Tech team went to the final 4.
