Why haven't the prices of bay boats come down? Even used ones are still high (pic)

I'm browsing on market place, and these prices are still crazy!
Sometimes I think a guy tells his wife, babe, I'll put it up for sale but he jacks up the price, so he really doesn't get rid of it!
These boats are 6 - 10 years old, and they still want fifty to sixty thousand..Crazy!

Still not a huge amount of sellers and new issue prices are still egregious.
I think that definitely changes over the next couple of years thought.

Blazer bay, used to be the way to go. Their prices are high now!
I think the company out of Bay Minette bought them.

A rolled gunnel 2400 can be had for $100k
High new purchase price, financed out forever, and upside down owner just trying to get what he owes for it is driving a lot of the insanity.

I just bought a piece of shite boat off marketplace in October, cleaned it up real good and paid cash for a brand new motor. A few other minor misc. repairs. I don’t think I could even enjoy some of the boats I’ve looked at knowing how much I spent. Even your basic fishing boats are stupid expensive.
For the guys that can TRULY afford it, good for you. Seriously.

Because they can and people are still buying them
I refused to pay what people were asking for a used boat so I bought new with warranty.

This is the way to do it if you’re capable of doing the work yourself.
Bout our last 35ft boat for $80k and all in for a COMPLETE rebuild (new tanks, glasswork, motors, etc) had half of what a new one would cost. Or even a good condition used one for that matter. As long as you find a solid hull it’s the way to go.
Can basically be a brand new boat after you rebuild it, and it’ll be tailored to your exact needs. Plus you can make money off them when you sell them.
Just gotta sit it out and wait for the right one to pop up.

Ehh I’ve seen the price come down on a lot of them. It just hasn’t returned to the pre covid market which it never will. I keep coming across the same rolled gunnel Blazer Bay 2170 that has dropped down to $13.5k. I’ve kicked around selling my boat and picking up that and pocketing the plus side money. If I hadn’t fixed all the problems on my boat and have it where I want it I’d do it in a blink.

That 2170 model is a good one

It was damned tempting to sell at the peak of wildness. I could have made a damn good bit on mine, but then I wouldn't have a boat and I damn sure wouldn't want to be buying one now.

I bought mine in 2018. It’s just the way it worked out but timing couldn’t of worked out better for me.

Back when I’d bring a boat on our annual beach vacay I’d park at the local grocery store with a lock on the hitch and a for sale sign roughly 2x’s what I paid for it. Never paid transient dock fees.

It was a black 23lx sea chaser with a 275 verado for 43k back in 2018.
I should have bought it. It was located in madisonville.

I get disappointed every time I look at boats online. I priced out a BlackJack 256 in 2020 at the boat show loaded to the gills with a 400 merc. 120K out the door. That same boat is 170K now.
I also bought a 24' Bluewave with a 300 yammy in 2016 new loaded out minus a hard top. I ended up selling the boat after 3 years and bought a new 22' Excel (Aluminum) in 2023 and paid more for it than I did my Bluewave.
It's the new norm I reckon. Same thing with trucks.

Yea. I'd really like a new engine and trailer but man I just flat out cant afford it. It'd cost more than my truck and more than double what I paid for the whole boat just to do that.

Because people are stupid and will overpay.

Had an hour to kill yesterday at Bass Pro/Cabelas in Gonzalez. There is a bass boat in there for 100k.
The salesman has sold 11 of them last year. As long as some dumbass is willing to put a 30-yr loan on their boats, prices are going to stay high.

30 year loan? Wow
I know one of the reasons why I heard is you can get a twenty year loan four new boats..
I just looked on facebook this morning. Some guy has a three year old Key West 19 foot bay boat. He is asking forty thousand dollars.
Crazy

15k for the engine, 7k for the trailer, don't leave much for the hull or anything else.
Go to Bridgeside on the Saturday snapper season opens and be prepared to be astounded. Countless 100k trucks dragging around 200k+ (and drastically more) boats with a bunch of under 40 year old dudes running it all. How do you think they are paying for all that?
