The health insurance companies who are making about a trillion dollars year , 60 % comes from the Pharmaceutical Benefit Managers who are owned by United Healthcare , Cigna Healthcare and CVS . They in turn push higher costs to the patient’s company . As a country we are 40 th in the world for optimum healthcare results. We are F’d and Bobby is getting creamed by the Senate who gets tons from the insurers in campaign donations to keep them in power

If RFK is not confirmed, what can POTUS do to appoint him to some kind of administrative role that still has much authority but does not require Senate confirmation?

Recess appointment.
What gets me is that Senators think RFK jr is weird had no problem with “Rachel” Levine.

RFK said he has about 10 years left in the tank to make a difference for America to get heathier
this job is really important to him

I say test the waters on making him a consultant to the WH, then appoint him as a presidential proxy and grant him authority to do things consistent with the president's intent.

One point from my understanding. Introduction of generic branded drugs has inflated cost of other pharmaceuticals. Companies are investing millions in R&D with no guarantee. If they create a winner, they have just a few years to recoup cost and generate a profit before patent expires. Tricks around that but clock is always ticking.

It’s too late in an industry driven by profit . Lots of 400lb people in scooters at the grocery store.

I would bet the pharmacies spend more on advertising than on R&D

It would be really sad to see Jr go out the same way his daddy did by the (IMHO) same people that got Sr.
Again, IMHO. 1963 consent decree

Those people are the worst. They can walk their fatasses to the door, but not around the store.

Are you including how many times they have to eat the cost of doctors who make mistakes, commit fraud, and order unnecessary treatments? All to buy a boat, a big house. or take the wife to an exotic locale? They drive up the cost as much as anything.
Or hospitals that continue to build and build and build and build. Maternity wards that are more like spas and resorts than hospitals.
What about people who continue to smoke, drink alcohol, eat unhealthy foods, or refuse to exercise? They know what to do to live a healthier life but they choose not to.
It’s all symbiotic. You can’t blame the insurance company without blaming these other entities.

Fraud and mistakes aren’t driving up healthcare costs in any significant fashion.

As recently as last month, I naively assumed that at least the health insurance companies wanted their customers healthy so that they didn’t have to pay claims on their customers and they’d be fine with paying gym memberships because that’s a hell of a lot cheaper than paying for someone’s expensive medication for the rest of their lives. I still knew that they were evil and had extremely little sympathy for the UnitedHealth CEO that was killed, but I thought they were actually better than Big Pharma.
How wrong was I. I forget the name of the guest, but Tucker had on a guy that explained it, and while I still don’t fully understand it, the insurance companies are the ones really escalating the high pricing and they want to keep it that way. They are morally on the exact same level as the Heads of Pfizer and Moderna.

AI will significantly reduce the costs to develop new drugs, so we might as well keep generics as they are. If we gave them up now, we'd never get them back. Big Pharma would just make even more money because they could simply release a "new" version of their drugs at a higher price point every couple of years and pull the old one, since we just removed all their competition.

Insurance companies can make as much as they want, I don’t care
I’m tired of paying for “poor” people to go to the doctor every day for a runny nose
