And embarrassment. Coaches see aging players, 50k over the salary cap and a GM whose time expired a long time ago!

I'm not a fan of Loomis, and he should have been gone 3 years ago. But do any of you stop and think that maybe the Saints have started notifying candidates they've found their head coach (Kellen Moore) and that those candidates aren't getting the job?
They can't officially announce Moore until after the Super Bowl because he's coaching in the game. And usually when a coach says he's pulling out of a search, college or pro, it's because he's been told the team isn't hiring him. It allows the candidate to somewhat save face publicly.

Could be but I really think McCarthy was always leaning on sitting out but talked to the Saints because if they were willing to go overboard to hire him maybe it would work out. I'm glad the Saints didn't go overboard just to hire him.
As I said in another post the key tell will be if Rizzi takes the denver ST job in the next few days. If he does then it's Moore as HC. IMO if Rizzi doesn't take the Denver ST job before the SB then theres a good chance he will be HC. I just can't see them keeping him on the hook while there is an open ST job thats is painfully obviously his pending this HC search.

Mickey is a lot of things, but unprofessional is not one of them. If Moore is the guy and they all know it, it is a professional courtesy to notify the other candidates that they are going another way. I knew it was Moore simply by the way Kafka talked about his experience interviewing for the job as if it was a forgone conclusion that he was not the guy.
The fun thing is going to be when Rizzi takes a SC job in the next few days and the sky is falling brigade comes out and says now we have 0 options of HC.

Yea I can see the usual suspects sky screaming about how the in-house guy doesn't even want the Saints job while all along they were sky screaming about how awful it would be if the team had to settle for the in-house guy as HC

Gotcha. I was just saying I think we’re about 60 million over. 50 thousand would be much better than that. Hell maybe I’m wrong and we’re only 50k over now.
