We were actually driving on 90 in the snow and I told my wife it was like Season 1 and Season 4 of True Detective mixed together

So this is what Lon was talking about. I mean it might’ve mattered before NIL but kids are going to schools based on relationships anymore.

Naw. Guidry is a competent 1AA or small A DC who gets hyped and fails at bigger jobs (either in terms of the job or competition level), balling back to his level.

Positional coach on an elite team may be beyond his capabilities, so we will see.

Going from major D1A DC to analyst-positional coach isn't "falling up"

FCS DC
FCS HC
FCS DC
FBS Positional
FBS DC
FBS DC
FBS Analyst

Not failing up. just seems like a good FCS DC that keeps trying to exceed his station

Correct.

He's at his station, which likely maxes out at positional coach or analyst at elite school.

He can be a DC, but at a lower level.

I don't get the "falling up" comment and I don't particularly like him. But he does well at his level, gets promoted, fails, and ends up back at his level. That's normal.

He was not a good head coach at McNeese, and people in houses near practice fields frequently complained about his loud outbursts of profanity during practices.

21-12 record while having to sell kids on living in Lake Charles is bad?

Also being a head coach is a really tough job but we didn’t hire him to do that. He has a ton of experience to thrive in the role he’s been hired to do. Way overqualified

Eh, not really. This job may be beyond his abilities (see posts above discussing it).
