Cast Away-Chuck probably never has to work again, right?

Feel like FedEx probably took pretty good care of him once he was rescued.

Chuck probably couldn’t handle real life again and either died from drugs and booze or finished his days in a behavioral health unit.

I would think so.
One thing to think about is since they thought he died, who got his life insurance money?
Another thing I wondered is did his dentist lay the pipe to his old lady because he thought she would be getting it?

If I survived a major plane crash, lived on and survived an island, only to come back to the love of my life married with kids, I’d probably want to stop living

I’ve thought about this, you’d definitely have a multi million dollar settlement.
To start, you’d need to pay him his salary for the years he was missing, and he seemed to be fairly high up.
Given the fanfare and publicity, it would likely be in FedEx’s best interest from a PR perspective to throw him a 7 or maybe 8 figure settlement and not risk public backlash.
You also have an additional settlement potentially with Boeing/Airbus as well (to the extent they already didn’t pay his family).
I’m also assuming that FedEx would just eat what life insurance they had already paid to whoever his beneficiary was.
EDIT: oh and book and movie rights would be lucrative for him as well
I’m certain he ain’t working for UPS in a couple of years

That’s what I’ve thought, FedEx would want positive PR and would probably set him up comfortably.
Never thought about Boeing/Airbus having to settle with him but guess that would be a possibility as well.

All he wants is a cup full of ice. They don’t need to throw millions at him just a few snow chips.

Toughest part is coming back and seeing thousands of entitled assholes all around you who take every single thing for granted.

He may not ever have to work again but I would assume he did just to keep busy. Maybe just moving freight part-time.

What a great great movie. That scene with he and his wife in the rain was perfect. Tom Hanks is a legend

And then shacked up with that auburn haired, well mannered cowgirl. Life became good again. Chuck goes back to work, just the way he is.

In addition to the book and movie rights, as others have stated, he'd get paid a boat load on the public lecture circuit.

Easily could’ve written a book and then had a movie made from it and lived off that money.
On top of the massive settlement from fedex

Chuck died of fluid loss after turning around and finding the chick with the wings.

If by “stop living” you mean go on an epic cocaine, ecstasy, booze and illicit sex rampage until my heart stopped…agree.

n had a movie made from it
Hell, he could have made a fortune just by selling the name of the ball for the movie.
Can you imagine him yelling out "Spalding!!!! I'm sorry, Spalding!" or, "Mikasa!!!! I'm sorry, Mikasa!!!!"?

If he's legally dead, would he have to pay taxes again?
I suppose he could still vote.

I don't think there is blame to throw around. FedEx isn't to blame for his years on the island.
