Major League Baseball has reported $12.1 billion in revenue for the 2024 fiscal year, according to Forbes. This marks a record high for the league, breaking the previous record of $11.6 billion in 2023. Take note that the league saw an increase of $500 million in just one year, so the growth continues to be substantial.

If they would shorten the season/play less games, it would be a better sport

Then they have enough money to add back the short season leagues.

How does the collapse of RSNs factor into this figure? The revenue teams make off of their local media deals is separate from MLB revenue.

A lot of teams have turned over their local broadcasts to MLB for distribution once their regional sports network went bankrupt. Now that money flows through the MLB accounting books instead of directly to those the individual teams.

It might not be a factor at all, but a lot of MLB teams have taken a huge hit the last couple of seasons because their local media deals have collapsed.

We are heading that way. With the Dodgers unchecked spending, they are singlehandedly leading baseball to a lockout after the '26 season and I'm here for it. It's time for a cleansing.

48% of local revenues are revenue shared so i would assume those count for total league revenue

It's ironic that the hottest attraction in baseball is a pitcher who slugs, and the commish installed the abortion that is the DH in the entire league because... Covid, somehow.

Good luck with that. Using the NFL model, the floor for 2024 would've been roughly $160 million. 10 teams (1/3 of the league) didn't even hit $120 million last year.
