I swear I remember watching this at school, but looking back I'm not sure if we did or if it's just so ingrained in my memory that that's how I remember it.

watching on the monitors at Michoud. Followed by a stern warning not to speculate and not to in any way engage news/media.

1st grade. I remember K-2 classes were watching it together and when it exploded, the teachers turned it off and refused to talk about it after. My mom explained to me what happened when I got home.

Same. I must’ve been in Kindergarten but I swear I remember being in first grade and we even had a man from nasa (Michoud) come speak to us about it, bc he was a family member of the teacher or something like that. I have this memory but the date does not match.

So I don’t even know.

Kindergarten. They wheeled in the TV on a stand so we could watch it live. It's never left me. Every class movie day from then on reminded me of that experience. There are things that happen during a generation that becomes part of that generation's identity. If you were in grade school we pretty much all watched that together. It was a defining moment in our lives. And my how time has flown.

Being alive during challenger is the generational gap between being a boomer and being a millenial

Ronald McNair was a hell of a man. Such a huge loss.
