I know the haters won’t like it but that is a fact. This is not a defense of McMahon but it is a defense of this team. Check the 8 man rotation of Every SEC team and you’ll be lucky to find 1 freshman in the rotation. LSU has 3 true freshmen ( 4 if Green starts to get more PT) RSF in Chest and Collins who hardly played his FR year and was injured last year. Williams is a SO. That is why Reed going down was so big for this team. It is a fact that this is the youngest most inexperienced team in the SEC. Yet they are competing and if they hit their 3’s last night they get the upset. So anyone who thinks this team should be beating mature Sr laden ranked SEC teams doesn’t know basketball. It is why mid majors upset P5 schools in the Tournament.

Sorry but not starting Spears is a mistake because Givens is not ready to lead a team into hostile territory, moment is too big, keep Spears in starting lineup and get Williams more PT until V.Miller returns.

I agree with that and I’m not saying McMahon isn’t above criticism but it is a fact that this is the youngest and most inexperienced team. That matters in this league. And that is why Reed going down was huge for THIS team. But they competed at Ole Miss. TAM and AL in the road. All 3 teams had maybe one freshman in rotation. Look at Vandy. Almost all SR and GR. Same with Mizzou. If McMahon can keep this team together and get Reed back and add a couple of good transfers they will have an opportunity to turn things around. If not then will probably be MM last year.

A) is not is Sears, don’t act like you know shite when you can’t get his name correct

B) How are people still so caught up on starts? It is about minutes. SEARS got 29 minutes to Givens 11…SEARS plays better off the bench. He moved to the bench because he got into early foul trouble multiple times and it screwed up everything. SEARS coming off the bench is the ONE thing McMahon has done correctly

I’m not sure how that matters? In the time of the portal you can look at Vanderbilt as an example.

It does if the team doesn’t have the NIL fund. It means the coach is asked to compete with less. Some are able to overcome that, but it is much harder. No one knows if it is CMM’s fault that Ward left, but his psycology may be why he was still available to be recruited so late. Others may have noticed it, and decided to pass on him, but CMM had to take the chance, and the gamble may not have paid off. We have to hope that some of the other gambles do pay off. Green is one of those. I don’t know if any of the recruits have hidden concerns, but it wouldn’t surprise me. CMM won more games last year than was expected, so perhaps that helped him convince some recruits, because he seems to have some talented recruits coming next year. If Reed, Chest and Collins return, and he gets a few good shooters, we could finally have enough talent next year to go deep in the tournament.

For this year, I’m seeing a team that is improving, which speaks to good coaching. I don’t know if we can expect Chest to keep playing at such a high level, but if he does, and if others like Green, can contribute, we may win more than expected again this year, and that’ll help attract more talent, even with less NIL.

Not that it disproves your point, but Arkansas had 3 true freshmen (before Flands' injury), 2 Sophomores, 2 juniors, and 2 seniors in their rotation, while LSU has 3 5th year seniors and a 4th year junior. Now Green will make it 4 true freshmen and a RS freshmen, so maybe we edge them out.

Why would this matter at all? That’s his fault. Half these players could transfer out next year. He’s in charge of building the roster.

What tf you talking about lol ? They have 5th year seniors and graduate transfers . 2018 Willy wade had 4 true freshman in the rotation. Naz , smart , Williams , Darius days lol? Not to mention a true sophomore PG in waters . Wanna guess what that team produced in 2018 ? Ohh yeah lol a first place finish in the sec . Stop with the excuses. That team had like one senior on it (bigby williams ) this team MM team has like 3 seniors and a ton of JR’s

It took him too long to put him in last night and then he pulled him too soon. He had a few really good early assists to our big men and then coach put Gibbons back in, which was a mistake.

It doesn't, but the OP is in love with McMahon about as much as Tiger Ree was with Orgeron.

The bar will just constantly move all over the place to be able to make the excuses as to why McMahon is a great coach. It was wades fault, then talent, then depth, then youth. It will just change to the best available argument with every loss.

Hell, we had basketball morons calling out posters because LSU didn't lose by a bunch, and because Bama didn't score as many points as expected. This is sadly what they have resorted to. It's pretty pathetic.

That may be why some games they get physically dominated. They played tough last night but need to bring that intensity every game. That may be a youth problem and may fall at the feet of McMahon also for possibly not bringing out the best in them or demanding intensity and excellence.
