I am in Abbeville today and I would like to leave here at 6 PM and get to Mandeville. What’s the best route for me to take, or am I stuck here overnight?

You have to find a bridge over miss river
Atchafayala river and a few others.
I’d think via Natchez Ms is you best bet

Probably stuck. Here in Lafayette it’s 6 degrees in the front yard and 4 in the back. This snow isn’t going anywhere today. If you tried to leave it would take 8 hours and 2 tanks of gas going 12 mph on I-10. Plus the other boneheads in the ditches and such. Just stay put as long as you can and use wisdom.. I couldn’t imagine trying to scale the Mississippi River Bridge in these conditions.

Should be some melting today in the direct sunlight. Don’t need it to be above 32 in the sun

167 to I-49 to 190 to across the old bridge to Airline to Florida Blvd, get on I-12 in Holden to Mandeville is open. Traffic is slow AF

Good night and good luck

Yeah. Maybe get to Natchez and come down I-55. Maybe 190?

Otherwise you gotta wait until the red circles with the minus sign on them have gone away. Whenever that might be.

Also I would leave around 2 at peak heating. Then you’d get there at 5 or 6 before the freeze really sets in. If you leave at 6 the roads will start freezing up on you long before you make it.

We had a ton of snow melt off the roof in 2021 under the 20s when it was sunny

Caused the shady spots in my back yard to turn to an ice rink

Stay put. By the time it warms up enough to make that drive safe, you won't be able to make it in time regardless of what route you take.

Road temps will remain below freezing for most of the day. Doubt I10 will be open today.

He doesn’t have to take I-10. If a road isn’t closed right now it’s not going to become closed today now that the sun is out, outside of a major accident. Which could happen in Louisiana when it’s 82 and dry.
