Couple neighbors spent a lot of time shoveling snow from their driveways today. Why?

One guy must’ve been out there for hours with a shovel and salt. For what purpose? He didn’t go anywhere. Couldn’t have if he wanted to. There’s no snow plow coming to take care of the snow in the streets. Do people just think this is what you’re supposed to do when there’s snow because they’ve seen it in movies? The way I see it, this is a problem that will disappear on its own in 24-48 hours. If you were shoveling snow today, maybe you have a reason you’d like to share?

It'll turn to ice pretty quick after being driven on or walked on.

Most likely he wanted to get away from a nagging wife.

If your driveway is level then yeah

But most houses in subdivisions have a decent slope and should be dry by end of day tomorrow with a full day of direct sunlight

Isn't that why husband's don't mind mowing the grass all summer long?

Because he felt like shoveling his driveway and that’s his business

It’s also a very novel thing to do down here. Might have just done it for fun

I’ve shoveled tons of snow in my time up in Canada. It’s a pain in the arse and zero reason to be doing it in south Louisiana. Just stay home and wait for it to melt away

I suppose? Still don’t know how clearing off a driveway helps when the street it leads to is covered in snow and ice.

Ice.

Your driveway will melt and turn to ice. His driveway will melt completely.

Besides. What else you gonna do?

Your neighbor is a pro, rookie.

Both of our driveways lead to a street that’s covered in snow and ice. Everyone’s driveway and street will be completely melted of ice and snow in 48 hours max. I spent the day playing with my kids, and he spent the day stressing about a non existent problem.

Old boy couldn’t stand being cooped up in the house with his wife anymore and had to getaway.

The bigger question is why do you give a shite? He may have wanted to be productive and get some physical activity in.

I live in the Midwest and we get snow 5 or so times a year usually.

Got about 6 inches a couple of weeks ago and maybe one person in my neighborhood shoveled their driveway.

Why don’t you walk over there and ask him tomorrow, then report back to us.

That was Old Man Marley.

You ever heard of the South Bend shovel slayer? That's him. Back in '58, he murdered his whole family and half the people on his block…with a snow shovel. Been hiding out in your neighborhood ever since.

Did you see the garbage can full of salt? That's where he keeps his victims. The salt turns the bodies... into mummies.

1 day of being in and around house without being able to go anywhere is enough. Especially if kids are home. Space is needed.
