This is crazy. Anyone hear about this today or live near the area?

A 46-year-old man was killed by Jefferson Parish deputies early Saturday (Jan. 18) after allegedly opening fire on his family inside their River Ridge home. The slain man’s identity was not immediately disclosed.

Sheriff Joe Lopinto said the man fatally shot his 40-year-old wife and their 2-year-old toddler girl. He also shot and wounded a 9-year-old girl who was rushed to Children’s Hospital in critical condition. A 13-year-old daughter of the man also was shot, wounded in the ankle. She hid and called 911 to bring deputies to the horrific scene around 4 a.m., Lopinto said, identifying her father as the gunman.
quote:The incident occurred in a single-story home in the 10000 block of Stephen Drive, near Mary Lane.
Lopinto said that when deputies arrived and entered the house, they saw the dead bodies of the man’s wife and toddler in the hallway and found the two older daughters wounded. “Our policemen continued into the house itself and encountered the father in a back bedroom,” Lopinto said. “He ended up producing a firearm at that time and our deputies fired upon him, striking and killing him inside the residence.”

I live right around the corner. Never saw the parents, but saw the kids all the time. The oldest two played basketball with my neighbor’s son. Just an awful situation.

If it was, it wasn't painful enough.

Mental illness ain't no joke. It gets the stigma of since it's not visible to the naked eye that far too often people are just told to deal with it or "get over it," etc. I wish this person got help with whatever was plaguing him but it's no excuse to do what he did, obviously. Men, especially, are often too afraid to get help because they're supposed to be strong and tough. I fear for his children's future.

I live a few blocks away. Prayers for the children, St. Matthew and our community. We have endured enough tragic events.

The Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office has identified the man who allegedly killed his wife and their 2-year-old daughter early Saturday in River Ridge as Glenn Bohne, Jr.
The 46-year-old allegedly shot his wife, whom authorities identified as Dung Pham, and their toddler, Amy Bohne, killing both.

The thought of the horror that went on is mind boggling and heartbreaking. I hope they have caring relatives who will take them in and give them the love and help they need.

Major props to those JPSO deputies. They didn’t cower, they entered and ended the threat. It takes balls to clear a house with a known threat inside who is assuredly waiting for you.

That is awful. Thank goodness JPSO handled business.

The Rouge family lived on Moss Lane at the time of my birth.
Always liked the area.

My ex wife is married to a schizophrenia, and I’ve talked to her from time to time…. She lives in constant hell. She left me for him ( before she knew he was a wacko.) I still worry one of these stories will be her.

My wife just got off the phone with her SIL who knew the man well. She said he was “a gentle giant”, and the kind of man who would not hurt a bug. He must have really snapped.
She said the in-laws lived there and are Vietnamese.
