Hey guys, I used to use Romeros', was a big fan but now that its closed does anyone have any recommendations for where to have deer sausage made near Zachary?

Leblancs in Morganza - they do a great job with sausage. FYI - their tamales, burritos & boudin are great!

A little bit of a drive from Zachary, but for deer sausage Benoits in Addis is top notch.
Their cane syrup sausage is a must get if you go there
ETA: next year I’ll be taking a deer to Leblanc based off the board’s recommendations

I'm addicted to their sausage, this gets my vote
I also learned a couple weeks ago that JC Butcher Block in Slaughter does deer processing. Apparently the ground meat that comes from there is very good.

Carter’s wild game processing is Brad from Romeros. Look him up on facebook he has a price list.

I hunt in Centreville and used Vines for years and while they used to put out top-notch sausage the quality went down 4 or 5 years ago and I haven’t been back. I’ve heard they have tried to address their problems - does anyone have any recent experience with them?

I’ll add them to my list for next year
JC for ground
Leblanc for burritos and summer sausage
Benoits for sausage

This was a topic here a few years ago. Bennie Vine made an account here and pledged to right the ship if I remember correctly. We still go for a burger every so often.but I process my own deer now.
I have great memories of Vines growing up. That was where my dad and I would go for lunch when hunting . That was the days when the current restaurant was a Sears store. Been going there a long time.

I was thinking about trying these guys. Has anybody used them and If so, would you recommend them?
Also, thank you everyone for the replies you guys are great.

Pdubya is right about them coming on TD and saying they were righting the ship. IIRC they said their dad had gotten out of the business and after some complaints dad decided to come back on board. I haven't had a problem with them or the 4-5 deer I've dropped off there in the last two years.
I've gotten their sausage multiple times recently and I'm very happy with them. I get the brown sugar, pepperjack cheese sasuage and a buddy of mine got the pineapple, jalapeño, cheddar cheese sausage from them and I think I like that more than what I got (I don't like pineapple but you don't taste it in this, just makes it a little sweeter).
I admittedly wasn't around the area hunting (was off in college) the few years when they were getting the complaints so I don't have a ton to compare it to. I'd give them another shot since they seem to have fixed some of the issues.
