I'm going over to a bud's house Sunday to watch the Rams-Eagles and Buffalo games.

He's an Eagles fan and is semi-convinced the NFL will rig the game for the Rams because of the LA fires.

I'm not sure I buy it. What about y'all? If yes, what games / team feel good stories make you suspect?

It is pretty obvious they leverage officials to alter the games. They are an entertainment industry, so they do what is in their best interest. I accepted it as part of the experience years ago, but in the past few years they have made it too obvious to the point it isn't enjoyable to watch. You know certain teams can get away with the most blatant of penalties while others can't celebrate a big play without waiting to see if the "flag" icon pops up on the screen to kill the momentum.

I do enjoy the videos on Monday mornings on YouTube showing the frickery from the day before. It is pretty laughable at this point what they are doing yet fans/gamblng addicts are still in denial.

Roger Goodell is not calling up the head ref and telling him to "make sure the Rams win."

But, just like the NBA, the head ref is well aware that certain story lines will benefit the NFL more than others. And he is well aware that if his crew calls games where those story lines are generated, that they will almost certainly be rewarded with better assignments in the future.

I was expecting you to be one of the first to jump in this thread. Aren’t you the guy who says you refuse to watch because it’s rigged but reads all the box scores after the games? Still haven’t figured that one out

Yes. The NFL has gotten like NASCAR and professional wrestling.

He doesn't have to. They hold meetings. The refs are untouchable for a reason. No NFL official has ever been fired for making bad calls.

The biggest thing to me is WHY?

I don’t know how to feel about the nfl rigging games or ‘wanting’ a certain outcome. For the longest time, I’ve struggled with the Nola no-call. Was it incompetence? Was it a good no call? Was there something more nefarious at play? I think I know, but I’ve never had any definitive proof of it.

If you think the NFL wants to rig games, they have to want to for a certain reason. Do they stand to gain anything by pushing the Rams through at this time? I’m not entirely sure

I don't find it at all obvious.

Correct. My gambling habit extends to owning two fantasy teams a season in leagues I've been in since 2003. I grew up in an era of tracking scores/stats via a newspaper. Any semi-intelligent person can view a box score in less than a minute and deduce a lot of information about the game as well as see how your players performed for you fantasy lineup.

I've watched maybe a total of one hour of NFL action in the past three seasons combined. It isn't an enjoyable product to view any longer, IMO. I won't shite on those who keep watching it like I don't shite on those who enjoy WWE or the NBA.

Why is this such a big deal?

7 years later and you are still grappling in the stages of denial.

You want to believe so bad. If you are a Saints fan and still deny what you saw that day then you are the perfect fan for the NFL. I don't like the saints, never have, never will, and that call is one of the top three most blatant fix jobs of all time.

Just seems weird to hold the banner of it being rigged but still gamble on it by playing fantasy football. Thats such a conflict of interest.

LOL the entry fee to one league is $25 and the other is $50. Every season I win my money back, minimum.

That's hardly gambling nor a "conflict of interest". I also couldn't tell you the names of players outside of the stars. For example, I drafted whoever is the RB for Cincy this year and that dude did well.

I think any normal gambler would tell you that someone paying $75 for something that lasts 17 weeks is hardly a habit lolololol

Either way, I know Jayden Daniels is playing today. I hope WASH wins. I'll find out tomorrow morning. Enjoy the games.

Saints fans have been moaning, whining, crying and bitching that Goodell rigs the games against NOLA ever since January 20, 2019.

There is too much money involved for them to not do it.

I didn’t think so and then I watched the doink video here from last week. I’m now convinced

Return of the doink

I've seen this guy's videos. That's NOT how the NFL is altering games. That dude is a moron but hilarious at the same time.

I think the NFL’s best interest is close games. When I grew up, the NFC was routinely bombing the AFC in Super Bowls. The winner of the NFCCG was going to be the champ. Now, it seems like more often than not, the SB is going to be a close game.

While I think the NOLA no-call was blatant and could easily be a fix, you had to get to that point first. I don’t think refs can fix many games from start to finish.

If it’s truly scripted, the big market Jets would have won another title, same for Dallas. I mean, why would the NFL want a dynasty in Kansas City of all places?
