This seals the deal.

Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy makes decision on Trump nominee Hegseth for defense secretary.

quote:

Republican Louisiana U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy said Friday he will vote to confirm Pete Hegseth as President-elect Donald Trump's secretary of defense.

Hegseth, a combat veteran and former Fox News host, is among Trump's more controversial cabinet nominees because of previous comments questioning women's roles in the military and allegations of sexual misconduct and drinking alcohol while working previous jobs.

But Hegseth emerged this week from his confirmation hearing at the Senate Armed Services Committee relatively unscathed and with support from Republicans like Iowa's Joni Ernst who previously expressed concerns about his nomination.

Cassidy, who met with Hegseth, joined the wave of Republican support that will likely lead to Hegseth's nomination.

“The President’s pick for Secretary of Defense, Mr. Hegseth, has impressive academic qualifications, conducted himself very well in the Senate Armed Services hearing, and has a commendable record of service in uniform," Cassiday said in a statement to USA Today Network. "He assured me he will surround himself with a strong support team.”

Rubio is probably the only one that will get any D votes. He will get around 90 total votes.

I pray Rubio get exposed quickly as SOS and his career free falls. He is a schmuck of the Linda Graham mold.

While I don't think he is amazing, what has he done to deserve replacement?

I like how he fights for prolife, anti fema (flood insurance specifically) and pro 2A

Him wanting to restrict the First Amendment in order to support the MSM in an effort to “battle misinformation” is a terrible look.

As for looking out for his constituents, however, he has done an excellent job in that regard imho by-in-large.

Could he do more, maybe.

But should he be replaced, nah.

Honestly, I rather like him.

As for Cassidy…well, I voted for the welder last time for a reason.

He is going to win Baton Rouge. Fleming is going win up north, and Miguez is going to win in the Southwest.

The upcoming Senatorial election is going to come down to Republicans in the SE part of the state, and whomever the Dems push in the event that they don’t have a candidate in the runoff.

Crazy times to think that Dems could align behind Cassidy.

He is up for reelection in the midterm and he thinks he can win (he won't). That said he will be quiet and make the confirmations. Cassidy is a snake ,but at the moment he has to go along.

True, but I would not be surprised to see a ton of voters “change” their party affiliation prior to the election.
