TikTok should not be banned because I don’t believe any politician or government official that uses the “national security” excuse.

Just the opposite. To me he’s enjoying the natural human propensity to assemble and the frustration by the U.S. government of TT users assembling on another and potentially worse platform for producing more unapproved government narratives.

Plenty of justification to ban tiktok. People seem caught between the idea that we need to be on guard against CCP surveillance and shenanigans, and the dubious BS that takes place in our nation as well, and act as though one of the two must be accepted. It's not an either/or situation. Both must be dealt with.

Tik Tok is going to be banned because the government that collected the data isn't our own government who we should love and support because they have given us everything we hold dear. They definitely don't spy on us like the Chinese app Tik Tok is.

Aside from being a Chinese data collector, what other reasons do you have since you have said "plenty".

Who has ever said this? CCP surveillance literally flew in a balloon over our country many times and we did jack shite. Senators like Mitch McConnell are literally married to the enemy and they have everything they could desire as far as Intel goes. Don't pretend we are guarding secrets anymore when all the tech we have is made in China.

What a foolish stooge this "Ian Carroll" person comes across as being. His position and support is so unmoored from fact that it's hard to believe he's not being compensated and/or extorted in some way by the Chinese.

First off, say what you want about Israel, but assertions that the Jewish lobby got TikTok banned is absurd. unadulterated fabrication. It's a made up lie. TikTok is not even banned in Israel for goodness sakes!

The rise of antisemitic BS on the left, given the immense support the left traditionally enjoyed from extreme leftist Jews, is amazing. From Saul Alinsky to Arthur Engoron, US radical Jews reliably forwarded the far left agenda, by any means necessary, for a century or more. Now the left is turning on them because of their religion? It might be hilarious if it weren't so sad.

Then we have the Communist Chinese puppet girl claiming China's internet is a "free-space, so feel free to roam around." Holy cow! It has all the elements of an old Saturday Night Live satire, except in this case she's serious, and the narrating imbecile swallows her entire yarn.

I see the tick tok influence is already working on many of you. "the US govt screwed me so I want the chinese govt to screw me as well". Are you guys going to remove your Ukraine flags and put up chinese ones? Start protesting when we put more tariffs on china?

Seriously fellas, when in doubt ALWAYS follow the money. Trump's shift has nothing to do with the shiny objects, look up Jeffrey Yass and you will have your answer.

Trump wants a stay on the ban so he can let Jeffrey Yass and Elon figure out who will buy it.

The differences in the algorithms used in the US compared to China is a good start. They use TikTok to manipulate society by what videos are promoted to the top of the page. In China TikTok promotes much more wholesome and uplifting content. In the US it's moral depravity that is promoted.

Honestly if TikTok promotes the same type of videos in the US as they do in China I would be on board with keeping it. It's not the spying that bothers me, it's the intentional social manipulation.

Tik Tok is not owned by the Chinese Govt.

quote:

During the March 14 exchange with Paul, Kilmeade said, "Who owns that company? ByteDance? ByteDance is owned by China."

"No, it’s not," Paul replied. "See that’s a lie. … You’re defaming the company."

It could be argued that American govt had more control over Twitter and Facebook than the Chinese Govt has over Tik Tok in the USA.

TikTok must be banned because... China, who is basically the driving engine of modern American industry, while unemployment ticks up and up and salaries down and down in this country.

Makes sense.

Eh, practically speaking I think in many ways they do. We've seen the Chinese government remove executives from the public sphere that have crossed their ire. The lack of a signed document stating as much seems to ignore the reality of starting a business in China.

Apparently, a sort of purge is going on in Chinese finance at the moment.
