DeMichael Dizer has been promoted from within to become the new West Monroe football coach.

Dizer becomes the 16th head coach in West Monroe football history. Dizer, who served as the team's strength and conditioning coach last year, spent years as an assistant at West Monroe and Sterlington.

After playing free safety at Grambling State before pursuing a professional career in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks, Dizer made his way to Sterlington in 2011 as an assistant before finding his way to West Monroe in 2017

An extensive HC search only to hire a dude already on staff….

Definitely a West Monroe thing to do.

Why do they have issues attracting proven, winning head coaches? That job should be sexier than it is.

From what I gather there’s a ton of entrenched coaches on staff there and they won’t wiggle at all for external hires making changes for the staff and there’s a district cap on compensation so they can’t really pay on par with some of the top top salaries elsewhere

They had a state championship-winning coach who is now at a Northshore school that they passed on, so they did get some interest.

1- that is a pretty hard story to believe given who they ended up hiring

2- if it is true, that’s a way worse issue to have if they are flat out turning down great candidates to hire much less qualified ones I’d rather people not want my job than say my AD was actively turning away better applicants

They passed on him and then when their guy turned them down they called him back and he said “no thanks”

Don Shows is the standard and will always be what the new coach will be compared to.

Dizer is highly thought of locally and is gonna be successful.

Former West Monroe QB Bobby Breen who is the OC at Sterlington passed on the job.

Wonder why you would hire someone who is the strength and conditioning coach? Surely he has extensive coaching experience that’s not being reported

He was WM's DB coach before and of course he played safety on the NFL.

I’m hearing names like Bachman, Brewerton, Dunn, Indest, Mcullough as well as Breen and a Carr from Mississippi were interested. Indest was told he was out of the running Saturday because they thought Breen was in. Breen backed out this morning so they called Indest he said no. Indest was going to bring a current HC from the Acadiana area with him to help him run the offense. I hope it works out for them, but it seems like a poor job handling the hiring.

I agree, coached against several of his teams. He is a hell of a coach and a winner.
