Does Perkins walk straight into starting lineup or does her have to earn that spot?

IMO, Perkins has to earn that spot because for the last two years, he's been horrible and a massive liability. If he was performing at the level he was when he first arrived, no doubt he would walk straight into the starting lineup. If he's the best we have right now at LB, we're in for a long season!

Don't want to hear he's a 5-star player because that was based on his high school performances. If you think he's performing like a 5-star now, then screw the portal because we have some 7-8 star players two and three deep on defense already!

He got hurt WTF are you talking about. He’s the Star unless someone beats him out for it. Highly unlikely

Fourth year player that opted to come back for his senior season instead of declaring for the nfl draft that’s started at some point every season he’s been here and now he’s not worthy of the spot lol

If the coaches are real coaches then he has to earn it... goes for anyone on the field... no one should be guaranteed a spot... that's how you lose games and a team

I was thinking this, but when you see it written out it’s even funnier.

I am hoping Keys and Weeks lock down the LB spots and that lets us move him around and highlight his abilities more.

He is good passrushing
He is good in coverage
he is good running down playing the flats and blowing up screens.

He is bad playing in traffic and a getting off blocks in the run game

Is this a serious question? You think Perkins is going to come back if he has any chance of being a 2nd string player at LSU?

So theoretically if LSU brings someone in who is better at Star than Perkins, you think they should sit the bench because Perkins is untouchable?

Perkins has not proven to be proficient at any position in the last two years

What if perk is slow to recover coming back from his injury? LSU shouldn't even consider another option?

If he wasn't given a high draft grade coming off of an injury, it is feasible.

I don’t think he’s a liability. Unfortunately, he is a classic “tweener” who does not have a position to play on the football field. Too slow to be a safety, to small to be a linebacker or end.

I think I lose IQ each time I read this board.

Feasible? Not in the slightest. He would've got drafted somewhere. NVM the OP thinks Perkins is useless despite every scout saying otherwise.

Perkins is not coming back to LSU to ride the pine and they didn't pay him to ride the pine. He's coming back to improve draft stock. If he had any indication at all they'd possibly bench him he would've went to the draft. Common sense doesn't seem to apply to some users on here. He's a tweener with elite athleticism if he wants a high draft pick he has to prove it at a position. Someone somewhere would've drafted him in hopes they could mold him into what they thought he fit best in. That has been his problem at LSU they don't know how to use them and scouts see this.

Perkins is an elite athlete of course he’s a starter and they just have to figure out where to best use him to fit his skill set

If he’s healthy,…..he should be a starter. Are you kidding?

He’s not a good fit at MLB. He needs to play in space. Star is a good spot but it does have liabilities at times. But he should excel there next season.
