You have to admit that while ND is a good football team, they have been extremely lucky. and of course it takes luck to win the NC. you have to get some good bounces.

ND could've easily been eliminated in the first round if the seeding system had been up to snuff. their schedule has been easy, both through the regular season and the playoffs. Georgia lost their qb, and Kirbo coached so badly you'd have thought he thought ND was wearing crimson and cream. You had to have that feeling that Franklin would blow the game. and he did. which is a shame because until that last series he had coached well, imo.

and someone else pointed out that kelly didn't have the portal, either.

I expect tonight's winner to mop the floor with ND. because against a really good battle tested team, i expect to see the real ND>

Win% vs ranked teams at LSU

BK- 33.3%

Orgeron- 62.5%

Miles- 64.6%

Yes let's keep making excuses as to why Notre Dames success is all due to the coach who has the worst win percentage against ranked teams here since Dinardo

If ND wins the national championship than this will go down as one of the weakest champions in history. This ND team would lose to every national championship team in the CFP and BCS era, and lose to probably most of runner-ups as well.

They have a great defense. Drew Allar gift wrapped that game to ND.

Penn St had the luckiest playoff draw of all. SMU then Boise St, come on that's like two bye weeks.

Their biggest fortune was getting rid of Brian Kelly. It seems to me that the problem with Notre Dame the past 10 years was BK.

Marcus Freeman was on his way here with BK until ND made him the offer for HC.

Even if ND wins the NC game by 50, BK is clearly a superior coach to a coach that has actually won three playoff games to his zero, and a NC to his zero.

BK is the best and LSU is lucky to have him.

Been saying this for weeks. If Penn State is winning playoff games, your playoff is too big.

And then we’d lose by 10 and all be melting like crazy on how we could have lost to this ND team.

ND wouldn't be still playing if it wasn't for the 12 team playoff

I'm not down on Kelly, but it's disingenuous to tout Kelly's record at ND then criticize Freeman for winning at ND because they have a weak SOS. They both have played the same weak schedules. That being said, ND's SOS just added wins over the #2, 4 and 8th ranked teams and will finish the season playing the #3 or 6 team. I know tRant is trying to de-legitimize each win, but in the end, it's a win vs a top team.

I like what Kelly is building here. It doesn't mean that Freeman hasn't done very well at ND.

I agree to a point. They had a strength of schedule of 31 in the regular season, and an easier schedule than either of the two teams Kelly brought to the playoffs in his best years, and yes they absolutely would not have made either the Final Four or the Final two under either of those previous formats, that's just a fact.

They beat Indiana - so what right? but they did beat Georgia, a team that was more talented than them and would have made the four team playoff ahead of them without question and beat them rather decisively, and they beat a Penn St. team that was about their equal IMHO talent-wise, so they may have not earned it by their regular season schedule but they did earn it under the brightest lights. Credit must be given.

This shite has gotta be fixed. I don’t care if you won the Mountain West Conference, you can’t get a bye for that unless your SOS was above a certain level. Screw what’s “fair”, if it was fair the playoffs should be including the Sun Belt and AAC conference champions.
