Den of Thieves: Pantera - talk about an all time bad-luck opening weekend

I thought the film was supposed to open in November but it was pushed to Jan 10, which is never a good sign because studios typically dump their worst films in January.
But now Den of Thieves has 2/3 of the country in a foot of snow and ice, and Hollywood and the entirety of Southern California is literally on fire.
That's some incredibly terrible luck.

I’m so bummed. Was gonna go tonight but decided against it as I didn’t want the roads to be shite when I left the theater
Gonna go Saturday afternoon when it warms up or maybe Sunday.
Been looking forward to this for years . Huge bad luck for sure

I didn’t realize it was playing tonight at the theater near me, one showing at 7pm.
Been snowing all day here in DFW and it was sold out.

That's a good sign I guess. I don't know why this movie didn't get more buzz.

I don’t think this movie is as snake bit as you make it out to be. While yes January and a lot of February is a dumping ground for garbage, it’s the only wide release of the weekend and people will get out to go sit in a warm theatre for 110 minutes to do something so they’re not sitting at home doing nothing

Was the first movie anything other than a run-of-the-mill shoot-em-up action flick? Lotta hype for this sequel, but I don't remember ever seeing too much about the first one.

I enjoyed the first one. Better than your run-of-the-mill shoot em up action flick. Pretty good twists and turns. Lots of action and a little bit of character development.

Until the final chase/shootout, I legit thought the twist was going to be that Butler’s character was in on it.

i'd say yes. Some unusual suspectish type turns with a bit more action thrown in. i saw it on a plane ride and wish i had seen it in theaters.
out of respect for the first one and GB, I'll try to make this one.\
i do agree with the point of the OP that I hope it does better with adverse weather and environmental problems going on this weekend.

it wasn't as good as some others, but i liked the twist at the end. without spoilers, you're left thinking "this MFer got away with it."

The first one is good because Pablo Shreiber and Butler were great adversaries. Shreiber especially carried the first movie.
