my delta shower faucet was leaking.
Decided to change cartridge.
Of course harder than anticipated, as usual, but finally got it. Ended up changing all the fixtures bc the others were worn. Replaced with the same fixtures, delta Windermere.
Well changed cartridge and everything and now I have half the water pressure as I did before. I tried different cartridges, flushed the lines and everything, no difference. Trying to not to hire a plumber, but I think it’s inevitable.
I called delta and they are going to send me another cartridge. I’m not hopeful bc I already tried this but worth trying again.
Anyone have any input why I may be having this issue?
The water pressure is down from the tub spout and the shower but only when cartridge is in. Seems like a cartridge issue but I don’t know why

Did you flush it out before you put the new one on?

Are you an a well? Maybe calcium build up?

I did and the pressure is perfect.
Could it be mutiple faulty valves lol? I am stumped.

If after you flush it, and check pressure, it's fine.

The only other answer (that I can think of) could be faulty valves. They are cheap little pieces of Chinese crap, so it's possible.

That or poor installation

Did you remove the water flow restrictor ring?

Yea, remove the water flow restrictor. Check out some Youtube videos on removing it.

Are you replacing with universal cartidges or OEM Delta? I would make sure to replace with OEM Delta

I changed the 20 year-old cartridge in my Delta shower a couple of years ago and the water pressure dropped about 20%, but it doesn't bother me. A 50% drop would be intolerable. I used an OEM cartridge. Maybe the newer cartridges are designed to output less.

The water flow restrictor is for the shower head? It’s low out the faucet too.

And I was reading specs, I’m not sure the flow isn’t supposed to be lower like you’re saying, but I can’t imagine as slow as it is. It’s very weak right now. May
Be more than 50% less.
It’s driving me nuts bc it doesn’t make sense

I've got to change 3 plus a few other things. It's worth the hour of labor for me to have my guy do it. I hate plumbing

All new shower valves are either pressure balanced or thermostatic...no more individual hot or cold handles (I know thats not what you had but notice how they are relics of the 90s and earlier now.) Supposed to help reduce scalding issues but also restricts flow. Hot and cold are fighting each other to equalize thru the valve now instead of both having full flow like they would through a pipe.

The govt totally sucks

You may have removed the restrictor but isn't there a flow adjustment as well? Sure, all aren't the same but maybe not.

Sorry for the delay, Bob. I forgot about this post.
I have reduced output from the shower head and the tub faucet. My shower head was not changed. I only changed the cartridge in the single control mechanism.
