I remember doing this test in grade school and the competition was always fun...That spirit seems like it's been lost somewhat.

The test was replaced with an individual goals test. Yuck. Here's the wiki link

shite. 1/2 those exercises would be considered too dangerous to people today.

I should dig out my patches. Those were the days.

Unfortunately our country is far gone from that.

Those that can’t physically survive will have a destination to Greenland.

What does this have to do with party affiliation? Kennedy was a Democrat and instituted this program that benefits everyone. The idea has nothing to do with Trump.

PE did not become a mandatory and physically demanding class in public schools until WWII. The classes were designed to make male students ready for basic training.
An old guy showed me his Byrd HS yearbook from 1943. There were about 200 males in the senior class photos wearing military uniforms.
Me: 'Wow, ya'll had a big ROTC class.'
Him: 'That's the whole senior class. All the boys were in ROTC.'

It's entertaining to see how miserable you are about the incoming administration.

My neighbor was the head of curriculum for our school system’s PE programs. I asked her what happened to the test and she said, “a kid somewhere strained so hard on the pull ups and had some type of catastrophic injury so they ended it.”

My middle school kid had a one mile turkey trot at school and had to get a permission slip to participate in strenuous activity.

The one test they do do is the pacer test and the teachers won’t let my kids max it out. Instead of participating in strenuous activity PE is more like a senior citizen rec center, pickleball, ball room dancing.
It’s a sad combination of a litigious society, soft kids and lazy PE teachers.

lazy PE teachers

My freshman PE teacher was a retired Marine drill sergeant. He was anything but soft.
