There was a major shake-up in Georgia politics Monday night after the Georgia Republican Party removed one of its members from the group.

The State Executive Committee voted unanimously to expel former Republican Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan from any further participation or future association with the party.

In a resolution released by the Georgia GOP, the party lists a host of accusations against Duncan including undermining Republican candidates, endorsing Democrats, and using his affiliation with the party for personal gain.

“Geoff Duncan is hereby expelled from the Georgia Republican Party...Geoff Duncan is hereby banned from qualifying as a candidate of the Georgia Republican Party,” the resolution notes, also stating that Duncan “is hereby banned from all property owned or leased by the Georgia Republican Party and all events held by or under the authority of the Georgia Republican Party”.

The Georgia Republican Party also called on media organizations requesting that they refer to Duncan as an “expelled Republican” in any future media appearances or references.

Duncan criticized that decision on social media questioning the party’s priorities. In a tweet via X, Duncan responded by saying, “Hard to believe this is a good use of time for a party that’s only got a limited amount of time to figure out mass deportations, world peace and global tariffs. Learn how to take a victory lap not light another dumpster fire.”

I don’t know about virtue signaling but I love pettiness.

I have an opinion on the acts, not the alleged justifications for the acts.

This isn't complicated, yet you are confused. Sad

And then the democrats would have the senate today.

I dislike Murkowski, Collins, and McConnel as much as anybody but making them democrats would just give the Dems more power.

Not inherently saying that’s a bad thing in and of itself, but it’s counterproductive.

That isn't happening, either.

If you're not a team player, you won't be suiting up for the team.
Seems pretty simple.

But the "team" isn't really something that can expel you. He can still register as a Republican and call himself one. That's why I called it virtue signaling.

Can they actually ban him from voting in the primaries? That doesn't sound legal.

Yes, people trying their best to sound smart and "interpret" what I say and looking like idiots. Par the course since 2016 (especially since 2019)

Are you having difficulty disguising between registered Republican voters and the state political organization that is the Georgia Republican Party?

He can still vote any way he wants. He just won't have any place in any other party activities.
I'm doubtful that he will be voting Republican though.
