AR 15, 556 Ammo / Mag Recommendations?

Recently ordered an AR from PSA. My first AR, so help me with ammo recs. Gun use will be plinking and pigs. Might need different ammo for each application, which is fine. I plan to buy a box or two of various kinds to see what works best in this gun and later buy in surplus.
What do you recommend and in what grain? OT poor, so not looking to break the bank.
Also, what brand magazines do you prefer?
Barrel Length: 16”
Barrel Material: 416R Stainless Steel
Twist Rate: 1 in 7”
Gas System: Mid-Length

For plinking just buy whatever 55 or 62gr ball ammo you can get for the best price. For hunting focus on getting a variety in the 75 - 77gr range but for pigs even 62gr XM855/SS109 stuff will work fine. The main thing to do is get time behind the trigger and focus on learning your new rifle.

AAC 77Gr OTM is great stuff for self defense. It was on sale at PSA during the holidays for .49 CPR. Its pretty close to razorcore at almost 2/3 of the price. Get 200 rds to keep for Self defense and get some XM193 for blasting.
for Mags just find the cheapest Magpul mags. I have 15-20 Metal mags that I keep around but Magpul and Lancers are hard to beat.
5 Magpul mags and 100 rds for $100

I only keep 55 or 62 gr bulk ammo. I have literally killed somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 hogs with it, all head or neck shots. Not sure how well it would work out with a vital shot though. Most of my hog kills are close range.
I have 10 round and 30 round polymer mags. Gun mag warehouse seems to have the best deals. I bought some aluminum mags but didn't really care for them.

When trying to figure how magazines and how much ammo, every time some BS gun related, or civil unrest incident happens, magazines and ammo go up in price first, then they're gone. Just something to keep in mind.

As far as magazines I'd stock up on Magpul gen 3. You can find them for about $11 and you can get the gen 2 for $8. As far as ammo id go for the cheapest brass 55gr and for something for wildlife the 77gr blackhills otm works. It's expensive but you aren't shooting 10 mags at a time.

For plinking, any cheaper fmj you can locate. For hunting pigs/deer, IMI 77 grain razor cores. Your 1:7 twist should really shine with the heavier stuff.
