Tetris has been my favorite. Cold War espionage mixed with the origins of the game/Gameboy.

The Greatest Beer Run is about a guy (Zac Efron) that drunkenly decides to bring beer to the soldiers fighting in Vietnam.

Both based on true stories.

ETA: Greyhound - Tom Hanks is a navy captain escorting supply ships and fighting U-boats in WW2
