New to the area and wanted to see what the board has to suggest. This first deer will be mostly ground meat but will do other cuts and sausage in the future. TIA

There are a few around. A lot of people use and like Bellevue Meats. I have a deer there now. I am trying a new to me place in Taylor called WildThang Custom meats. They offer some things that others locally don’t like Deer Chorizo and Boudin.

I always used Bellevue. The snack sticks and jalapeño cheese smoked sausage are great.

I use Bellvue Meat Processors out by Bodcau. They're great. And their sausage is awesome.

I will say this, if you're hauling one ungutted / skinned to them, make sure first that they're accepting them. They don't all the time so don't assume it. I've been letting them do it lately but I've seen signs up when I pick up meat saying they aren't doing it.

Bellevue meat, pepperjack sausage FTW!

My buddy was dropping a deer off and at that particular time they were only accepting gutted and skinned deer. some guy was sitting in the parking lot with his deer and he told my buddy he didn’t know how to skin it and didn’t know what he was going to do ??.

Bellevue, they do a good job, their smoked sausage is good, their ground meat is good, their bulk sausage is as good as store bought imo.

I don’t get any of that flavored shite though.

Looks like Bellevue it is. Will head over tomorrow.

Anyone ever tried Cottens Grocery and Market? Was suggested to me by a local friend but looks to be in a bad part of town.

Just do Bellevue, you won’t be disappointed. Heard too many mixed reports and it’s off Jewella.

Cottens is a filthy filthy place and they do a terrible job and end product is not good. I dropped a deer off there a few years ago and the place smelled like absolute death and flies everywhere. Bellvue, Wildthangs, and Dowlings are all good spots.

I use Dowlings for the ones I kill in Lincoln Parish. But had one done at Cottens this year that I killed in Caddo. I know know they’re owned by Allah Snackbar but the butcher lives in Frierson and does a good job. I have found the product good and a good price.

It’s not bad dropping the deer off in the back, but when you go pick it up you’re going inside and dealing with ghetto folks to pick it up.

Agreeing with Bellevue. Chris does a great job and their sausages are the best. Dowlings and Wildthang are also good.

I remember taking them deer when I was a kid in the 70's. That was one of the only places that would do it. Problem is it's still in the same place and you don't want to go there. Plus Bellvue is great.

Like others have said, if you are north, go to Bellevue, if you are in south, go to Stonewall.

I've used both. I normally do my own processing, but sometimes I get lazy and will drop a deer off.

I do like Stonewalls smoked sausage more than Bellevue.
