He would obviously never admit it publicly, but I believe the Irish making a run in these playoffs will have BK more motivated than ever going into next year. He will hear the narrative all off season about how much better the Irish are without him, Freeman is the better coach, blah blah blah. As a competitor, that has to drive you and this may be exactly what the doctor ordered for us to rise to the level we’ve all been seeking since 2019.

Anyone with a brain (not Klatt) realizes they beat a mediocre Indiana team and a Georgia team without its starting qb. ND has been in the semis before.

Their defense is dame impressive. Wish we had a few more dynamic defenders like they do.

I’m more worried about BKs judgement. He said he left ND to go to a place that can win a National Championship. If ND wins this year, BK doesn’t know as much about fotbsall as I once thought

Sure, but there’s a lot of shade being thrown BK’s way both nationally and even by many on this very board. Just don’t be surprised if you see a little different tone from him this off-season.

No doubt. THIS was on full display yesterday. Imagine us playing in the any game (let alone a CFP game) w/o Nuss, OM w/o Dart, or Ohio State w/o Howard, etc. GA missed some early opps and put their QB where he didn't need to be ..... in obvious passing downs. It was not pretty.

That's a silly assertion. If CBK requires this type of extrinsic motivation to become more successful, LSU didn't buy the coach they thought they did.

That sounds great in a fantasy world, but this is real life with real human emotion. You can’t totally insulate yourself from all the noise that he undoubtedly is hearing. Human nature says he will have a chip on his shoulder that works in LSU’s favor.

LSU has won 3 since ND has won one.

As if 90 million wasn’t motivation enough.

Brian has no more room to be reactive.

It’s proactive from here on out.

No more post mortems in the press room; it time to do the killing on the field.

I guess $10 million/year for 10 years isn’t motivation enough

Haha. I'll say it again in a different way. If NDs success is the motivation he needs to get him over a mediocrity hump, then Woodward hired a far more immature, ill-equipped leader than he thought and LSU requires.

Weird comment. Doesn't change the sentiment the OP mentions. Anyone with a brain would agree with him.

so 100 million doesn’t motivate him? It takes his former team to do it?

Several of you act like making money changes basic emotion.

Tell us you have never had money without telling us. The OP 's premise is valid.

Well, NIL and portal weren’t a thing back then. Game has changed tremendously in three years. People don’t realize how good of a job he’s done turning around the PROGRAM. LSU was looking into the abyss after the head coach quit and started posting pics of himself in bed with women. How about trying to recruit after that?

Even the best programs (GA and Ala) have had challenges with NIL and the portal. What was a disadvantage before for ND is now an advantage. Athletes who attend school for the DEGREE and stay there for 4-5 years build continuity. They have depth to overcome injuries and the older players have been in strength program for years. SEC schools have lost that because players transfer. Penn State is the same. Plus….i don’t care what anyone says, an SEC schedule is physically the toughest by far. Other than MS State, no easy wins for anyone. ND lost to Northern Illinois because the took it for granted. Talent didn’t carry them and they learned. The players are responsible for their performance since - where was Freeman during that game?

Thank you. Millions of dollars have nothing to do with your pride as a competitor. All of these coaches have generational wealth. That is not why any of them got into coaching. The constant bashing of BK by the national media is coupled with slobbing all over ND. I haven’t seen one mentioned without the other. That does something to you as a competitor. If BK is keeping receipts like he said, he is absolutely hanging onto these.

ND offense is putrid and could only manage 14 points against Northern Illinois. They're not winning it all this season.

I've never mentioned his compensation at all but salary motivations are another form of extrinsic motivation.

Let me be even more clear: I expect CBK to be motivated by his OWN team's lack of success and his OWN personal desire to be a champion than by his former team from three years ago success.

If the latter is true, then that's a major character flaw of CBK in my opinion.

The amount of over reaction to every little thing on this board (both ways) is absolutely ridiculous.
