So my wife is a latina cleaning machine and she has worked in janitorial services for some big companies.
There is huge turnover in those companies and the pay is low. I had the crazy idea that we should open our own cleaning service. I would rather we try to control our destiny moving forward.

I will be setting this up as an LLC, and fully insured. I am on nextdoor and several neighborhood associations and several local facebook groups.

I know that word of mouth is important, I will be primarily focusing on targeted facebook ads to get started and to try and build a client base.

I am in the South Charlotte, NC area. Yes, I understand competition is fierce. Is there anything that I may not be understanding in this venture? I owned a couple of businesses in the past and had a successful gymnastics school until Covid wiped out our business.

I would be super targeted. Go find a nice neighborhood, especially one with a really active Facebook or NextDoor. All it takes is one please customer and cleaning services go viral.

I’ve watched this happen over and over for services in my neighborhood. On the flip side, they can quickly ruin you if someone gets irritated.

I set this up for my ex. Go talk to commercial contractors. Clean up small commercial builds once construction is complete. Restaurants/gyms. Also can bid on public construction. We cleaned some BREC gyms after renovation. Better pay than residential. You can try home builders, but you'll be competing against illegals. Another great one is apartment buildings. Cleaning between renters. Go to the nice apartments, pay better for less work.

Look for small offices. They have trouble getting good cleaners.

And .... We have rules.

Find a niche and stick to it. Multi-family is a strong opportunity, but you've got to clean a ton to be profitable. Doctor's offices, banks and the like should be your target.

Focus more on commercial than residential. If you are going to use immigrants for labor jeep in mind they will bolt on you when someone offers just a little bit more money. I presume she is a pro with that Fabuloso...

Finding and keeping qualified employees that you can trust. Getting the work is not as hard as keeping the work by being able to staff it. Your wife is no doubt awesome. The key is finding twenty more just like your wife, and then forty as you grow, which is going to be the challenge. That is difficult in your potential line of business. Good luck.

Since she’s Latino shouldn’t be a problem getting illegals

See my post above. I know a few businesses running like this and they have problems themselves. This tends to be evening and over night work which puts you with a very poor employment pool
