My fix for the College Football calendat

1st I recognize that there are some things that I’ve missed but I tried to take into account the school calendar. Also, this will require some people who are incapable of change to change the way they do things drastically so I wouldn’t expect it to work. But for grins here it is:
calendar fix
- Early Signing Day- 1st Saturday in August (for next season’s class) MAKE IT A SHOW AND OWN THE DAY
- Fall Classes Start (August/ early September)
- Regular Season (Labor Day weekend- Thanksgiving weekend)
- Week 1- 1st week of September - Bowl Mania week - placement determined by previous season’s results
- Regular season runs 13 total weeks to play 12 games.
- 1st week of December = Army/ Navy week
- No conference championship games
- Playoffs begin 2nd week of December
- National Championship game 2nd SATURDAY in January
- Transfer Portal Opens at midnight of 2nd Sunday in January
- Transfer portal closes January 31
- Late signing period 1st Saturday in February - April 1st
- Spring semester begins late January/ Early February

There's been a BIG outcry regarding the current system. I do think changes benefitting the sport are definitely gonna take place. Particularly the portal time-line.

They should do away with signing day all together. Let a kid sign their letter of intent whenever they feel they are ready to shut it down during their final year of high school. You would be able to see which kids are playing games and searching for other deals whenever they are telling you they are committed, but refuse to sign. This would allow you to know who you have, and know who might flip on you when a higher bid comes along.

You’d have to move that to the second Monday of January. NFL playoffs rule Saturdays and Sundays in January.

This is stupid seeing as many Spring semesters start as early as January 2nd/3rd. Late enrollment would end by the second week of January, but hey that inconveniences football so let’s change all of that for a bunch of spoiled athletes and coaches.

Just have the transfer Portal open when spring semester ends. Make these kids think about the consequences and where/why they originally commit. Problem solved.

Seems like the portal should open up in April after spring practice.

I agree that the popular demand is there but idk how this gets dealt with without a law being passed.

Portal opens up one time a year after spring semester. A player is free to leave school after the fall semester, and can take classes wherever they want, but can't officially join a new team until the portal opens in the spring.
